My staff know they can come to me with any work related issues. I just know that any of them would feel a bit too girly to ask me to monitor their sodding health! If you're that worried about getting tingly hands you better get a job that doesn't involve using handheld machinery.
  2. irrelevant - should not be in that state after that amount of hours.
  3. Take a look on ebay. I bought 3x husky 350s imported from usa on there last year. The american husky's come in a blue box instead of the brown boxes in europe. The point remains that no one goes around checking that your saw has a ce mark on it.
  4. you were going to take that tree down for £50? that's very cheap.
  5. That's what my mate did. Got one group of ponses down from London but that was it.
  6. You can't sell non ce marked saws?? I think you'll find that plenty do! If you weren't allowed to sell them then they wouldn't be allowed to be imported - they would never get through customs!
  7. Douggie Bennett! - he tried telling me that PTS were buying steel poles from him to use on line clearance work! And he thinks that those kinky Weaver harnesses are the best in the world!
  8. There is no problem using a non ce marked saw, do you really think anyone is going to check it even if it was against the law??
  9. Good idea. Think of as many add-ons as possible, try and create some kind of outdoor experience.
  10. All you need is somewhere to store your logs/chips/trimmings that is a bit out of the way and nobody will even know you are there!
  11. Same here, do loads of work for the local authorities - never once been asked about a waste carriers license. Would be amazed if any tree surgeons around here have got one.
  12. Must have been painted with kiddies water colours or something! Unless it has just been badly abused by some numb skull member of staff.
  13. Best of luck in your new venture - I think you might need it. A friend of mine went to Genevieve Summer's tree climbing school 'Dancing with trees' in Georgia, USA and became a TCI certified facilitator. He started up a recreational tree climbing company offering everything from an hours climbing to over night tree camping. Despite spending a small fortune on a flash website and loads of advertising he does hardly any business. The fact of the matter is not many people want to climb trees - and pay for the privilege!

I'm an employer. If any of my staff wanted me to start monitoring their health I would get rid of them. Yet more shite for small businesses to swallow.

We do share one or two opinions, but I've never met the huckster:icon14:

  21. Yeah that's a good one - I've got worms in my woodchip pile and spiders in my log stack:icon14:

you reckon? would rather take advice from someone who knows how to use one!
  23. Most tree surgeons will only ever carry green waste, obviously all green waste can be composted.

Isn't it obvious that you are going to be using one of the above for most of the day?

Yeah I sort of agree with you. I just think the vibration form, or whatever the hell it is called, sounds a bit pathetic in relation to using a blower. Blowers are only used for a few minutes at the end of the day in most cases.
