  1. I just saw it on the news, it's the way the front end crumples on impact aswell.
  2. You're turning over near £64k a year on 3 days a week? That's pretty good, how many staff have you got? I'm only turning over between £80k and £85k a year doing 5 days a week with four staff!
  3. I do 95% domestic but when your turnover gets to a certain level you've got to become VAT registered. When my company became VAT registered I didn't start losing jobs, although as far as I know most of my competitors are VAT registered aswell. Even if your turnover isn't at the VAT threshold you should consider becoming voluntarily VAT registered so that you can claim the VAT back on your business purchases, you can back date your first VAT return 3 or 4 years so you can claim back the VAT on all of the gear you have bought in that time - giving you a nice lump sum! People shouldn't be afraid of becoming VAT registered - the extra record keeping is a piece of p*ss and you won't lose as much custom as you might think.
  4. are euro arb and total arb still around? used to recieve them regularly, they kept trying to get me to subscribe but as they kept sending me the mag for free I didn't bother, must have been sent about 6 issues of total arb!
  5. Been sent loads of arb mags in the past - most of them never seem to take off though. They were mainly full of ads aswell if I remember rightly.
  6. A way round paying VAT or import duties? As you bought your camera for your business you will get the VAT back when you fill out your VAT return - as with any business purchase.
  7. You need to do the tree work to get the timber; and there isn't enough demand for 6 loads of firewood everyday in this area.
  8. I knocked out £540 worth of firewood today with the help of one member of staff. Time I've paid wages, fuel, etc, I'm left with well over £400 profit + what ever my other three members of staff have made in the day.
  9. I hate those sliding Ds. Just when your about to do a cut the whole f*ckin harness decides to slip across to the other side. The Petzl harnesses are much better - lightweight, comfortable and basically a more modern design.
  10. You would make a lot more if you did split it.
  11. Don't know if it would fulfil all accounting requirements if you are trading as a Ltd Company? Would check it out with an accountant first.
  12. Just for the record, my Cabstar isn't my only truck!
  13. well I wouldn't be making any where near what I do without my four members of staff.
  14. That's the whole point of forming a limited company. What ever profit you leave in the company is only subject to corporation tax at 19% rather than income tax at 40%.
  15. I've had guys asking for £200 a day without any of their own gear. Tree surgery is a skillful job, but it ain't brain surgery!
  16. I draw £1500 - £2500 per month from my company, depending.
  17. The only problem with Weaver harnesses is that your customers might think you've got some bondage fetish or something:fisheye: buckles and leather straps everywhere!
  18. bloody hell! I think your best bet is to make one yourself out of some webbing straps!
  19. That's true, but sometimes you only need a monkey.
  20. Yeah, makes me laugh the amount some subbies try and demand, all they do is turn up in their car with a rope and harness!
  21. You could just pay minimum wage for unskilled labour if you wanted - but the guy that is with me at the moment from the job centre is good and I would like him to stick around!
