  1. I've never had one come undone, even tied loosely.
  2. Very difficult to diagnose without seeing/hearing the vehicle Mine turned out to be the transfer box whining but that was constant, then when I had done that I could hear the back axle whining so ended up doing that as well
  3. It's prolonged cold spells that do the trick. We did have some very short overnight deep frosts
  4. Haha...I remember three double decker buses completey underneath a snow drift outside my house in the late 70s. A digger came along clearing the snow and ripped the back end out of one of them. We regularly had 20ft deep snow drifts
  5. Was a deep frost here this morning, we needed one to shut everything down and stop the grass growing, I ended up cutting it on Friday because it had grown so much in one week
  6. IMO the mild winters we have had over the last few years as seen an increase in pesky critters and diseases. We need a really good cold snap to thin em out . I have not sold any logs as yet, I,m holding onto them while the new year
  7. Hi Jon There,s alsorts you can do with snow mate, if you get some in your hands and squeeze it into a ball shape you can throw it. It,s very slippy though mate, if you go out in the car you may need to put special tyres on Make the best of it though, you may not see any down there for another hundred years mate
  8. Best bet is don't get involved unless they are paying for your time, tell them to ring you when they have sorted it
  9. If what you want on arbtalk is a string of hijacked threads be my guest, I can play this game, should be fun
  10. And who are you like.....? Senior judge or something ?
  11. Another example of inappropriate planting, these saplings have no chance
  12. Always something positive to add as usual Stevie to ruin a thread The point here being that inappropriate planting is probably one of the biggest reasons trees fail to reach maturity. With a little forethought these trees could have live a full and fruitful life (pardon the pun) I,m sure there are many other examples
  13. Just a bit of foresight needed sometimes and a couple of brain cells may help. This road is the main a road between Bradford and halifax
  14. Does she make you feel young again Steve ?
  15. Went to see specialist yesterday who confirmed tendon damage but said he want to try a steroid injection first to see if the scar tissue on the tendon will go down enough to live with as an op may produce more scar tissue than the original wound. He injected the steroids with some local anesthetic which was agony and I've been in agony all night, finally settled down this morning but the op is to use the hand as normal to try and wear in the scar tissue All for three tiny pin pricks from a silky
  16. The uk price for those is totally unjustifiable
  17. It's the scratches sometimes that cause the most problems. A couple of month ago I ever so lightly tapped my wrist with the silky, it left three elongated pin prick holes.... No worries I thought. Next day my wrist was aching....after a days work a lump came up near the sunken bit at the point where your thumb pivots. Two months on I experience pain every minute of the day every time I move my wrist. Been to the doctors...anti inflammatorys wait...doctors again no change..refer..still waiting. I have jagged my wrist directly over a tendon and I reckon I have nicked the big tendon and damaged the sheath it runs in, I reckon the tendon will have a Frey on it which is causing the pain. Looking at an op to put it right and probably 6 -10 week recovery
  18. Did some log splitting with mine today and it has an oscillating joint. On this one you can lock the oscillating joint, but I never do, I hate it when it is locked off, far better machine with it unlocked. Apparently they are all going to be non oscillating, which in my view is a step backwards. This is a CSF 45D by the way
  19. There are many reasons for placing covenants on land and one may be so that builders or house holders can't buy land just to make profit. The land may have been bought for a song with the covenant, which would basically been an agreement that the owner will sell at a reduced price provided the new owner doesn't build on it or remove the trees. People regularly agree to covenants to get land cheap on the sly thinking they may be able to overturn or disregard the covenant and make a killing.
  20. I like the bit where the client sees buildings in the hinge fibres
  21. The bigger ones are better in the mud, they have big fat flotation tyres on the big models
  22. One thing I will add if I may People keep banging on about a .6 bag holds a .6 load of logs. They actually hold a lot more, I have stopped using them because the customer was getting much more than I was charging them for. I filled an 85cm square bag with logs as we normally do with the bag suspended on the pallet forks. I then emptied the bag into a solid sided 85 x85 x 85 crate and it over flowed by quite a lot because the bag sides bulge. I put my bag prices up by a tenner because I was charging for 0.6 cu/m
