  1. As Tom said above mate, check the plugs are actually operating, the plugs may be fine when tested out of the motor but are they actually getting the required ummmpff If they are working and heating up fit one of these as close to the injector pump as poss In line Fuel Hand Primer Pump One Way Rugby Ball Type. from Brookwells-
  2. Yes going back to PTO chris I have checked the chain and cables. I thought maybe one of the control cables had jumped out of their socket a bit but then I saw that the actual spool valve control lever was fully seated back so it should have been returning. I understand what you mean about that auto two speed valve, good idea I reckon, I watched a vid on it and it is fast on approach and just after the "crack" Watch the vid in this link which is the petrol model at the speed of the 2nd speed stroke and the return Super Magik
  3. Just been and compared stroke speeds for the Mignon 10.5t and the Supermagik 18t Mignon down stroke 4.5cm/sec and up stroke 9cm/sec Super Magik down 19cm/sec and up stroke 15cm/sec You live and learn
  4. If your drill busts mid job, then it costs you working time to go and exchange it or it costs you working time as likeitorlumpit has explained above
  5. I'm 46 I will come out of the industry due to being pee'd off with the pressures of running the business before I give up due to not being able to climb I could climb till I was 70 I reckon, but I couldn't put up with the bull till I'm 70
  6. Haha Nice one, I think Bracken and Bramble are the most common names I have heard in gundogs, gets confusing when there are 30 odd dogs running round with 5 called the same name We had a let day the other week for some more discerning or should I say cash loaded guns and their dogs were called Hector and Henry The best one I heard was a beaters dog was called "dog"
  7. I bought a Mignon 10.5t splitter after using a 20t Practico for a long time and was very dissappointed with the stroke speed. After 10 minutes use the Mignon has broken down and will not return stroke, I have had a quick look at it and can't see anything obvious, the spool valve is fully returned etc Anyhow, M Large are very good about it and after I expressed an interest in a brand new 18t Super Magik they offered to allow me every penny I paid for the Mignon against the 18t and pick the duff one up when they drop the new one off. Before I commit, has anyone got the new version, I have used the old practico and it was the dogs. But I could do with some feedback on the new shape jobby with the auto two speed etc ? Any feedback appreciated
  8. I liken it to when I used to sell power tools A builder once joked about why he should spend £140 on a Pro dewalt drill when he can buy a crap one from B&Q for £20 with a two year guarantee, if he breaks it he can just take it back and get a new one and he has done so three times already. I charge a minimum of £60 per hour, a one hour trip to B&Q three times equals £180 Running old unserviced equipment is a very expensive pass time. My new Bandit has cost nothing in parts for three years, whereas my mates old timberwolf has had new flywheel bearings, new brakes, new feed motor x 2, ignition switch, relays and countless filters from crap out of the tank

  10. There has to be a bottom figure, simply because we all (if we are doing things right) have a certain amount of fixed overheads If you run shagged out gear you will have a lower fixed overhead than someone who runs up to date nice machinery. But we all have fixed overheads Chipper Fuel Servicing Tool Loler WCL Insurance PL Insurance vehicle Insurance tools Insurance EL training

  12. I reckon if you are doing everything by the book a two man team would have to be £450 per day minimum If you dont you cant be doing it right or you are working long hours at a shite hourly rate:001_smile:

  14. I'm one of these that if I need it and can justify it financially and practically I buy it and only buy decent stuff, no rubbish. I bought my MEWP without knowing the price, I was only interested how much it cost per month or week I love it when a saw breaks down ( I dont love the saw breaking down) and you just grab the spare:001_smile:
