  1. Bump. I've done a slight modification that would be better described with a picture but not got one yet. What I have done is simple: attached a releasable zip-tie around the half hitch part of the knut to the krab which prevents this from bunching up near the coils and over tightening. I've tried this out for a few days and found it self tends really well and grips just as reliably.
  2. Nice job and I'm a tad motion sick too! For retrieval I like to use a webbing sling, small pulley and light lowering line/tag line. Just choker the sling below where you are cutting. If you use all rigging tackle then you can use the retrieval line to slow the swing.
  3. If you can make judgments without 'fear or favour', i.e. remain impartial, then you could do the inspecting for the company. Its up to your employer to decide whether or not you are impartial I would say. Regarding saving money you are looking at £400 plus exam resits at around £70. With this in mind and the amount of kits you have I would say your boss would make his money back within a year or two.
  4. I can give you some help this weekend if that's any good?
  5. Just ordered a couple of tesco sims for PAYG. Looks like I'm keeping off contract for now and it will stay that way if a tenner a month (doubled to £20 by tesco) lasts.
  6. So this isn't a contract but pay as you go with a £10 reward for topping up by a tenner each month - is that right?
  7. Sounds alright then! I don't chat for long on the phone but I'm concerned that I might go over the free mins and start paying much more.
  8. Been thinking of getting a contract phone after years of being a pay as you goer. Came across this deal from vodaphone for sim only - is 600 min per month generous? 600 Minutes + Unlimited Texts for £15 per Month - SIM Only Mobile Phone Price Plans - Vodafone
  9. I think so if its over 6 hours
  10. Got my tickets and have to wait in Dubai for about 7 hours on the way home. Is there any short trips of the city you can get which fetch you back in time for the flight? Wouldn't mind seeing the worlds tallest building
  11. I'm a verifier for the ATH but I haven't done much over the winter. As verifier I look at trees other people have recorded to check the data and update the records and I also record my own trees along the way. Its worthwhile and the woodland trust pay any mileage you accrue within reason. The most tricky part is determining weather a specimen is a vet, notable or ancient and there's a load of info I've yet to read on the matter. Would look good on the CV when applying for jobs as a woodland officer or similar role
  12. Cask with HPE sordin chipper muffs. I'm happy with it
  13. Oh thanks mate for the offer. I'm up in Accrington so some distance away and I can get an up to date book from the library if need be. Thanks again anyway
  14. The saw dust and crap froze in my snap hook today. It didn't work properly and kept sticking open so I got it clean for tomorrow. Watch out for this and keep doing your checks. I have a 3m wire core and use it on takedowns only, use my grillon for everything else
  15. Well done on raising that money everyone. I sat down with a glass of red wine and couldn't log in to arbtalk - that shows how many people were in it this year! What happened Dean, didn't you pat your head and rub belly?
  16. Thanks for all the tips and I'll jot them all down to take with. Looking forward to not needing a jacket most of all!
  17. Going with one brother from England and meeting one from Australia out there. No interest in lady boys and in a relationship so no 'extra' encounters! Trees obviously, waterfalls, scenery, unusual outdoor activities, bush tucker. I don't think we are going to be hanging round bangkok very long as from what I've heard you choke to death from fumes. Going for 2 weeks
  18. Out of the blue I'm going next month. Anyone been and can recommend places to see please post here. I might fit in a lunge while I'm out there!
  19. I don't think you can drag and drop but I'll give it a try, can't do any harm. Does the nero 9 lite prompt you to buy the full version all the time?
  20. I need a piece of simple software to put photos on dvd. I've got a project saved on windows movie maker and just need some burning software - can anyone recommend any? There's loads out there; burn4free for example, just don't know which one to go for.
  21. I've got a mardale treetop smock. Very good jacket - durable, waterproof and stays under the harness when climbing. I use my fristads fleece under that.
  22. Spend less time in supermarkets and shop for the week. Eat better and less salt
  23. Alright who's up for a do in the tail end of Jan?
