  1. NO, you do not need "consent". You NEED to "notify" the council of the intended work, they can then put TPO's on any of the trees they wish to control the work on, if they have not put TPO's on within 8 weeks or they come back to you and say they do not intend to put on any TPO's, then work can commence. Not being picky here, its an important difference, IMO.
  2. I got my first mog about 2years after I got the chipper, ran that mog and towed the chipper with it for a couple of years, then got a better mog with a PTO front mount chipper and rear mount crane, kept the entec and sent out a second crew with that and a 130 landy, then six years ago I got my current mog and five years ago I got the trailer with the hiad 071 on it, just under 2 years ago I bought my palfinger.
  3. My first chipper was an entec Chippit 25 PH, it was GREAT!!!!!!!

  5. And very thin!!!!,LOL!!!!!!!!
  6. My brother in law is doing REALLY well in the USA, over there the hard worker is rewarded, over here it seems the less you do the more you get.
  7. The thing with emigrating is all the family and roots you leave behind. By roots I mean all the places from your childhood and adolescence. I can go to the place where I popped the question to our lass and where I used to pay as a kid. This sort of thing means a lot to me.
  8. Would not be much use on a big Beech.
  9. The thing is HOPEFULLY we will be able to help our boys to get a start in whatever THEY want to do!! If I can do that all the years of graft will have been worth while!!!
  10. I have two sons, my eldest is nearly 14 and wants to come on board, thats the only time I will contemplate growing my Co, if he does OK he can run his own crew and we will have two gangs. If his brother , who is nearly 13 wants to joint too same goes for him. And my two girls if they fancy.
  11. Is this real????????? I heard about it before, but thought it was a piss take???????
  12. Yes and then you will hear your lass shouting from down stairs " come on Darren, your coffee is going cold and your going to be late, GET UP!!" LOL!!! Johny beat me too it!!!LOL!!!!!
  13. THAT is the thing you have realise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Most of us are tree climbers first and business men a very poor second!!
  14. I think thats always the case mate, no mater how long you have been trading. Most of my kit is paid for and that helps, but it still needs maintaining, fixing and replacing. I'm not sure an arb firm is ever easy to run, WE tend to be OUR businesses and our businesses tend to be US.
  15. You guys clearly get through a fair amount of work!!!!!!!!!!
  16. To be honest mate cutting the hinge lessens the flick. If you let the hinge snap it tends to bend the stem much more before letting go, IME.
  17. Really???? It's scary how fast time passes!!!!!!!!!!
  18. The BIG problem is you have to load their lorry. So by the time you have paid to hired a telly handler, paid a guy to be there when they come and then they come late, you tend to make very little or nowt.
  19. Last year some unwanted prizes were auctioned off, I bought a stump grinder guard, the money goes to TCT, so every ones a winner
  20. LOL!!!!!!!!!!! Glad your paying attention!! I may be totally wrong, I only pass on stuff I have heard that seem logical to me. I know I come across as an arrogant knob some times, but its really not my intention
