  1. These are really, really nice!!! I bet they will hold their money well to, so it would probably be a pretty sound investment.
  2. I find this highly unlikely, have you an example of this ever actually happening???
  3. They are a site sponsors, so are already paying to advertise
  4. Did they not give you two accounts?? When I moved to them, the business manager opened me two accounts in the business name, one current account and a savings account. That way you can pay in 60 cheques and £6k cash before charges. I can transfer funds from one account to the other on line. It also means you can draw twice as much from the hole in the wall.
  5. This is also my understanding of the situation.
  6. If your VAT registered it is your concern, because if parts of your money goes to the VAT man, you can claim that money back
  7. They'd have to be pretty pants at business to not know the value of something they are buying.
  8. But if your selling it to a VAT registered Co, they won't want to pay the extra, they would be better buying from another VAT reg Co.
  9. I used to have 3 personal accounts, 2 joint accounts, one for the business and one for the household and a sole account where I put my tax money. The Yorkshire bank allowed me to pay in cheques in the Co name.

  11. The thing is the days when you could have a good relationship with your bank manager are long gone. Many years ago my dad was in his bank, he was up to his limit on the overdraft and we we're going on holiday the following day, the manager happened to walk through and saw my dad talking to the girl on the desk. He said "Are you OK Frank?", my dad replied "not really we're going away tomorrow and I'm skint". The manager said to the girl"extend his overdraft by £200" he then said "have a good holiday Frank". I was with the Yorkshire bank for 25 years and they were very good, but they were charging me around £15 a month for a business account that was always in credit (often a quite high balance) So I switched to santander, I view them as a machine, there is no relationship, its just business, yes the cheques take time to clear, but I am charged nothing, they have given me a £5K overdraft at no cost and when I moved to them they gave me £100. When I left The YB my business manager did ring me in person (which was nice) but he did not have the authority to give me free banking. He did ask me to give them a call when I wanted to finance any equipment, which I will do, as they have always been very competitive.
  12. Around a weeks money (for a regular subbie)
  13. These assumptions can be a huge mistake. People will always surprise you. I try not to think I know anyones situation. I've been amazed by people so many times, I've looked at jobs where the house was a complete tip (the sort where you wipe your feet on the way out) thought theres no chance here and given a hefty price thinking its a none starter, only for them to say "no problem, when can you start" and then have them pay me the minuet the jobs finished.
  14. My Santander business banking is free (and not just for a start period) they also pay me interest on my balance.
  15. When I was just a sole trader I ran my business through a personal account, I only opened a business account when I started a LTD Co.
  16. Apparently the new features are add ons, so people can up grade their older ones.
  17. Looks like a 417 (newer version of the 416) I think, they made those well into the 1990's If you look the cab is somewhat roomier than the old 900/1100's, still only 2 seats though.
  18. 23 rads!!!!!!!!! what make and model of stove do you have, to run all those?????
  19. Thats great!!!! It real does seem way better than the Lockjack, which I tried years ago and gave up on.
  20. Life is never a level playing field. Some are more skilled, some get financial help from family or friends, some are farmers sons with land and machines available at no cost, etc, etc. My advice is to concentrate on yourself and the thing within your control, not worrying about others.
  21. Green Ash, Sycamore, Conifer of various types, Willow and Pop, can't keep my hand on the rads.
