  3. Cheers Charlieh i will look out for the cloudberry.look forward to a different habitat , havnt spent much time on moorland, want to see what birds are up there and trees of course.

  7. Its 30-35ft Steve. Got a mate doing it with me who has been climbing longer than me and he can rig stuff down. My old tutor is going to have a look at it too to give us some advice and tips. as regards technical the center main stem of the tree needs taking it out its rotten from a branch pull out, my buddy Andrew will rig it out and the rest should just be branch walking to the tips and 20-25% reduction. Dont worry i wont try to run before i can walk , im learning all the time and slowly and i know i can call on the wealth of expereince and knowledge from you and everyone else on here.

  11. Can you guys of vast experince give a newbie any tips on climbing poplars. we got a poplar reduction in a few weeks (after me hols) and i know there dodgy with a reputaion for branch failure. MEWP is out the question as there is no access for one btw. Any advice from seasoned climbers would be appreicated. Cheers.

  15. yeaahh i know ladder.. The tree wasnt big enough for a full climb with ropes..did use them in the end..does that let me off the hook? Sorry no piccies of the canker. Thanks for the words off encourgment..big thing to post on here your first job with so many years of Arb expeeince on here.(gulp). didnt like using the pole saw thou to reach the top branches , diffucult to get good target cuts.
  16. Did a crown clean today off a rowan with necteria canker , which i removed all the dead wood and reshaped for a mate. Nice little job for a beginner. First two are before the last three are after.
  17. Do you need emplyoees insurance even if the bloke helping you is from another company and not under your own company? I assume he must be under your own insurance.
  18. just looked at advertising your buissness on yell.com. You can get free advertisng in yellow pages , on yell.com and on 118 24 7. Seems to be free and easy to do, does anyone else use it or have you done it? seems there must be a catch. Nothings for free.
  19. Could it be chemical damage? yellow leaves can indicate chemical poullution in young trees caused by herbicide containing amitrole.

  21. Hi guys and gals, Im looking at starting my own bussiness. What i want to ask is, at the moment im only going to be doing it partime due to lack of work. I need to get some PLI, who do you recomend. Cheers,Cerne.
  22. Think this is why i didnt get it.not any practical expereince up trees working. Hopefully this will change this year (reccession willing) ,going to start some tree work, climbing and groundworkif i can get the work that is.(fingers crossed).
  23. Well i finished my arb course at the wrong time..trying to get some partime private arb jobs whilst working in fibre glass factory. Dont look like anyone wants a new arb at the moment. agree Andy...goverment useless (hello if their reading this:mad1:)!!! Things look bleak.
