Its not doing it, i turn the cam from one end and the whole thing turns , so i tried holding one side of the cam with pliers while trying to turn the other side of the cam to unscrew it..it wont budge....HOW DO YOU GET THE BLASTED THING OFF!! help.

  7. Thats the idea lancastree , you make it what you can. if you work like have and have not got much time between work and study you may just do woodland / urban tree surveys..check tpos. im planning a talk on tree care with the locals sometime. Their is a one off training course in the begining on anceint tree id and survey, thats it. They have forums once a year and you meet up with other wardens..but no discounts or free courses. Thats were the idea fails. Unless you know a fair bit about trees and biology , survey and ecology..your left with just tpos and thats it. you get a few booklets and thats it. Its more about being a catalyst to start tree projects off...badgering the locals to look after their trees and plant some more:proud:
  8. Cheers guys. im going around to have a look at it at the weekend, think he said it has been coppiced before , so it should be ok to do again. will keep you posted..btw..whens the right time to do it..Summer time?
  9. Im A warden. All we do is check trees with TPOS on them to see their not being violated. Or apply for TPOS.You can do want you want thou. Talk to schools, colleges, local groups about tree care and giving them the oppurtunity to plant trees in the right place. I have id some hazardous trees in my patch and suggest remdial work. i just look for oppurtunties to plant them and act as middle man between the comunity and Council. You make it what you like. Im lucky i know something about trees being an Arb student. My last warden before did not have a bl**dy clue..planted turkey oak every where, no thought that it spreads knopper gall wasps and hybridizes with English oak! I think it will help me to get work as tree surveyor, or as a conservationist within woodland.
  10. Friend of mine has asked me to have a look at his Euc in his garden. he wants it reduced. Anyone done a coppice on one? I know you can prune them back hard and they respond well, from what i read. but wanted to hear if anyone on here has done one. Then il get a qualified Arb to do it! I cant, not trained yet..BUGGER!!!:cussing:No NPTC ticket! YET!

  19. Wow as fast as that! better keep an eye on this willow then! Cheers Roller.your brain does taste funny thou:wave:
  20. Just want to pick someones brain. How long does it take before a root rot becomes a problem? I know that water and the type of fungus and host species effects it. I started thinking about it when i saw some surface woody roots decaying on a salix , but there is no fungus at the buttress or under the roots. In geneal how long does it take? months? years?
  21. i was the customer..hello BTS..you were helpfull..thanks a lot.
  22. My understanding of miseltoe ,Viscum album, is that it causes a deformity within the trees xylem vessels. This results in witches broom , which deforms branches into dense twiggy clusters..not nice for amenity. The only other thing is that it steals vital carbohydrates from the host tree causing stress in the host tree affecting its vitality.
  23. That does help, thanks Arbocop. he did not specify which krab it was or make. It sounded like he ment all 3 ways. will get some graphite powder thou.
