  1. On the small ones, you can use a finn cut too [ame] [/ame]
  2. I for one am getting pretty sick of all these crazed Christians killing innocent Muslims on the streets of Europe. Oh wait.. Whoops.
  3. 20 years ago if you wanted a start in the industry, you had to get a job first. Not enroll in a Colledge course you could never fail. If you were not up to the job,you were fired. There was no entering the job at Climber level. You started by dragging brush. Contract Climbers used to be guys that had more abiliy than their full time Employer had difficult jobs.So they would go off and mainly do the bigger Trees for a number of Companies or smaller out fits. Now "Contract Climber " often means recent College graduate with more gear than the space program and both Arms covered in Tattoos show the "story of his life" all 22 years of it. This isn't a thread about blokes banging on about how great they were or how much better things might have been in the days of Real Ale and Woodbines.
  4. I think it is a generation shift. Kids that have grown up in Households where their Fathers have never done propper graft, the kids have had everything handed to them on a plate and received praise for every little thing they have ever done. Coupled with the over emphasis on qualifiations over experiance that has saturated this industry. Not all the new guys are self entitiled, underskilled over confident limp wristed serial selfie takers but its most of them.
  5. Paint is in pretty good condition, itsmainly been sitting in the shed.I have to wort out some paint runs on the bonnet so I have a bit of paint left. The weather is too minging to paint anything at the moment, the humidity is pretty high.
  6. Can this be done to paint thats been on for a year? Or will I need to re-spray,then clear coat? The kin paint cost £600.
  7. I suggest asking at the paint shop for advice.I bumped into the guy who painted my first one,he advised a couple of clear coats. I wish he had had the time to paint my other one,he was well worth the money.
  8. I was told that it made the paint look nicer.
  9. Looks good that! Will you do a clear coat over the top of the second coat? I took the cab off mine to re-paint and swap the gear box.Just got all the electrics working again after about a year...
  10. Just buy some Caulked Boots.
  11. Very narrow user band. Also its not super minty or original so its not in the "mega bucks bracket" that suoer rich vehicle enthusiasts would want.
  12. I think £200 pounds is reasonable. The job has to be quoted:Fuel, wear and tear, time spent quoting You have to get to the job and use five or six different machines, two saws, chipper, truck, stumpy, blower plus labour. There will never be any propper money in the domestic sector untill people start charging propper prices.
  13. Hello Geoff Consider sourcing one from Germany, they are 30% less expensive and the selection is vast. Have a look around on here there are 63 Unimogs for sale Mercedes-Benz Unimog Angebote bei mobile.de Or here where there are 218 for sale Kommunal/Sonderfahrzeuge Unimog gebraucht kaufen bei AutoScout24 Trucks Remember the square cab mogs are getting long in the tooth now,the hour clock on the engine can tell lies, aquaint yourself with where the cabs get rusty (the sound proofing can hide a rusty cab). Best of luck!
  14. "Tivoli" Means Carnival in Norwegain. As long as it dosn't mean "Circus " it might be a good buy.
  15. Why not put your families travel plans on hold for 6 months. You come over and have a look around yourself and see what fits best.New Zealand is faaaarking expensive and you are not paid faaaaark all sadly. In addition if somewhere dosn't work out,you will be on the back foot with each move to somewhere new with a family in tow. However it works out,I wish you all the best.
  16. Napier would be my choice too.Cheaper housing in Flaxmere or Hastings. Unlimited outdoor opportunites.
  17. Normally I change into a clean Shirt and wear my Chainsaw Trousers and Boots. I used to wear "Smart Casual" attire, however I don't think it made a difference in the sucess rate. If its a formal meeting in an Office somewhere, then I wear smart clothes.
  18. Probably the nicest footage of a Tree job I have seen.Interesting use of Chokers instead of chains or strops. [ame] [/ame]
  19. Get a Bucket. Drain rad and engine block into the bucket by removing bottom hose at rad,if its tight don't try and pry it off,if you dent the spigot on the rad it will be harder to seal. Get the bucket out of the way and flush the rad using a gardern hose through the header tank. Refill the tank with 50% antifreeze by volume of what you drained out. Topp it up with water. Start and run for five minutes Check level. Biltema sells antifreeze test kits mate, cheap as and will tell you have good your fluid is.I drain and flush everything each year.
  20. Try mobile.de ? Gebrauchtwagen und Neuwagen ? Deutschlands größter Fahrzeugmarkt There is probaby 100 mogs on there at any one time
  21. No they don't. Old worn diesels Smoke alot at idle. Most Mogs are old and worn. No recon or fresh engine in a Mog will smoke, beleive me.
  22. Fence cost :4000 000 KR Length : 600 meters Cost per meter : 666,666 kr per meter or £662,42 per meter.
  23. I'm not supprised. Any project over about £50,000 has to go out for tender or is at least supposed to. Up there how many contractors cabable of doing this do you think there are? All of those would have biffed a stratospheric price in and the least stratospheric won. I have seen a row of Trees have half of their canopy's thinned, about 18 mature Trees for £40,000.Then they went and cut about every second one down for about the same money. Two different jobs, both under the threshold for tender.

    Emigrating

    I suggest Thailand.Bangkok specifically.
  25. I would pull the tank and give it a sound thumping with a rubber hammer. Its likely rusty and what you dislodge now, won't end up in the filter/across the intake pipe. Flush it after the thumping and have a look at the pre filter on the intake too.
