    I think it's only small improvement in safety . The barrel is thicker and has more corners to snag.

    For two or three times i wanted to try something different the only thing that kept me buying DMM carabiners was the clicking sound they make while closing i'm so used to they sound i can tell instantly if there's something wrong. I do have some petzl carabiners which are basically maintenance free. To each his own.

    I'm staying a DMM customer. My first DMM was twenty five years ago. You're right about them needing more TLC but in my opinion they worth it.

    In all fairness i can't seem to replicate it . But it happened twice and it's new and unused . Maybe I'm missing out but i don't want carabiners that need cleaning/lubricating on a daily basis.

    My brother was referred to a heart specialist , six weeks was the appointment so he paid private and got the same doctor within two weeks.
