    My new toy.

According to our mog dealer "it's not mogs and red,It's any machine and red". His advice a mog and chipper is an harvester. Chip into the bin and your ok,go back and load it with yesterdays chip and you can't use red. It's a mine field, the only way each of us will find out is when we get pullled.
  2. It came direct from Farmi. have a look at my pic forum it's on there. Would put pics on here if I knew how.lol
  3. Have run farmi for the last 15 yrs on U900's and U1000's, easy to maintain and very good chip.Biggap between the rollers and the blades so can be a bit of a pain with conifers wrapping round rollers. Watch for the last bit of wood getting stuck in the gap, sometimes have to turn pto shaft back by hand as it will stall mog. Price wise I paid just under £5,000 brand spanker from the factory but had to make my own control bar set up.

  8. Great job, love it when a plan comes together. Thats what people pay the right money for and you don't learn that at arb school. This whole site is a mind of info for everybody. Fungi ID, tree ID, how to tips and video's like this. Could make a superb training video out of all the info on here and it would be 100 times more help than what some of the courses out there are supposed to offer.
  9. Tom. The smaller the gob the easier the tree will fall. it's all about the hinge. If the gob is 12" across by an inch wide there is less wood in the hinge then if the gob was 16" across by 1" = 25% less resistance so tree should fall earlier
  10. All our quotes have terms "COD and we reserve the right to add a 10% credit charge". we then add 10% to all invoices that don't pay on the day. IE, NHS,councils and builders. We then state that a 10% discount can be deducted for payment by a certain date. Never had 1 complaint and it's suprising how many send you the payment including the extra 10%
  11. Working in the sticks near blackpool and decided to get a BB and hit the town. Next morning gets a cab back to the site but still in our best togs from nite out. So we nip behind a hedge to put our work gear on. Couple walking dog finds me bent over with me kegs round ankle and me mate stood behind doing up is flies.

  16. Buzz. Out of interest, how much a ton and how long can we stock pile before it's past sell by date
  17. With peter and John and good old shep. Always remember the one where John climbed Nelsons column, that took some balls getting over the plinth at the top.
  18. Dean are you sure you've got the job? or is one of those...well thanks for the quote £40 does seem very fair, but after watching rogue traders I do feel I should really get 3 quotes, and of course I will need that in writing together with your insurance docs, training certs, date of birth a life history...yawn...lol
  19. If he had done is basic unit he should have been aware of kickback. The units for larger saws don't cover crosscutting. Sounds to me like he was to keen to get his hands on the mens tools. If someone had have been stood by him, would they have stopped the saw kicking back? don't think so End of the day you can't beat experience,
  20. The TO is an idiot if he wants to retain that tree. I would just put in a 5 day notice of your intent to fell. The danger does not actually have had occurred. Given the size of this tree and it's location,I think anyone can see it has become dangerous.(from your pics) As for 4 copies of eveything. See Addendum sept 08 para 6.41A " The applicant need only submit one copy of the application"
  21. dean.......on your invoice just include the words " work to my spec" and your sorted
  22. You can apply for the exemptions over the phone,It's just taken me 10 mins. Here's a copy of the email I have just recieved Please find attached notification of Paragraphs 21 & 30. FTAO of Tony Castle, please see key conditions below: Chipping, shredding, cutting or pulverising waste plant matter. [Exemption 21] Key conditions Only applies to natural wood and plant material It is for the purpose of recovery or reuse of the material Key limits You may process up to 1000 tonnes a week You may store up to 1000 tonnes at any one time What else do you need to know It doesn't allow the treatment of wood wastes such as treated wooden fencing, wooden furniture etc Doesn't apply to hazardous wastes Example farming practice Chipping of logs and branches from cutting down trees and hedges, shredding of plant material Chipping, shredding, cutting or pulverising natural wood waste, so that its bulk can be reduced to make its transport and future recovery easier The exemption also allows sawdust and wood-shavings to be sorted and baled A link to the exemptions part of our website http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/'>http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/business/1745440/1745496/1906135/1985714/?lang=_e'>http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/'>http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/business/1745440/1745496/1906135/1985714/?lang=_e And the waste carrier definitions we discussed re tree surgeons... It is recommended that all tree surgeons are registered as waste carriers, if it is likely that in the course of your business you will carry waste that someone else has produced. You will need to register as a waste carrier if; you have been asked to cut and remove a tree, or have been given a course of action to take by someone else, then you are not the waste producer, as the decision has been taken by another person. you take away trees or branches which have been cut down by someone else, as you are not the waste producer. You will not need to register as a waste carrier if; you have been given the responsibility to decide when and where to cut and remove trees, for example, a large scale (regular) maintenance contract, then you do not need to register as you are making the decision that produces the waste. 23. All wood burns good when you get paid for taking it down in the first place. When your sitting there with your beer looking at those,Not to big flames, think of the posh git who as to pay £100 load...hey hey.
  24. Was over in Hull on Sat for the fair. Thought I was'nt worried about heights until my son got me on that Mega 2 ride. Madness and cost me a tenner.
  25. Round here you need AA approved status Becareful with TPO applications aswell. Noticed a cpl of councils are now stating that approved works MUST be carried out by a qualified aborist. Wrong anyone can do the work as long as it complies with BS 3998. I have just done work for a client and he as made a claim for compensation, he could have done the work himself but the he followed the condition. Be interesting to see what happens
