I think we post those green things over to the northern hemisphere soon, you send us the cold. It's not a fair deal in my book:(
  2. Hey David, it's an umbo tree. Apparantly the oldest one in nz, it got burnt down about 25 Years ago but is now veryvigorous and enjoying it's protected lifestyle. The wood is very weak. Next year we intend to have dry ice pouring out of the umbo centre
  3. saw these in the park yesterday, if you can help with the id and a bit of background as to what they do to the tree id be very much thankful. my fungi knowledge is very lacking:confused1:

  8. The teufelberger tachyon seems to packdown smaller than the NE tachyon for some reason bro.
  9. Yes the coupon is valid btw, 250ltr bottle of pump water?
  10. We got threatened wit $30k court etc but it's all good now, pump were on the climbeverything side! It's going to make a mean tent is that billboard. Skeletons- apparently some have been found up north from the old gum scarring days, guys would spike up with crampons and axes to get the gum, drop an axe and then no choice but wait for rescue( were talking late 1800s) or just wait to die. Apparently skeletons have been found 25m up. Trying to find if it actually happened, who found them etc or if it's just a myth.
  11. Yeah I know mate, was a large kauri where the head had snapped out and the rimu had shot up to the light. Climbed up it and into another part of the kauri canopy. Unfortunately no pics or vid allowed in some parts of the forests up north. Hoping to do some research on human skeletons found up the canopies from kauri gum collecting days, I've heard the rumours but I want to find the truth, csi style. Keep taking pics bro, I'm limited as broke too many cameras last year!
  12. Hey bro, the kauri was it the waitakere ranges- a mere baby to the waipou forest trees. Hopefully coming down soon to climb and film in the totara forest near you, I'll let you know when. The epiphytes are amazing in the old growth woods, they must way tonnes. I counted 16 mature trees growing in the crotchs of a large kauri a while ago. One of them was a 10m tall rimu with a decent stem too.
  13. Black, silver or red beech?

    Fancy dress

Fancy Dress Tree Climbing Competition if your about in Auckland nz this weekend, this should be worth attending. All proceeds to a good cause and a few/many drinks afterwards....
  22. It's not bailout bro it's ice. Some versions came with a coreso that it could be grizzly stitched by Sherrill. You can just remove the core and it's a normal hollow braid. Unless I'm mistaken but I'm 99% sure that's the case
  23. I don't like it as hitch cord so have never bothered with shorter buries. Be interested to see what you find though.
  24. Just use the standard double braid class 1 instructions from either Yale or Samson bro.
  25. Different trees different techniques. It's all good:)
