  1. still fighting it simon!! itll happen but nz is workin its magic.for now. mine was called the NARC treehopper when i got it, it had just been designed by Mick Cottam-one of my lecturers at myerscough at the time. Im hopefully back in UK june next year for a month or 2-will be good to catchup and have a climb and and some beers
  2. It was my first harness and thought it was the business. Tried it on the other day and damn it felt crap after years in my tree motion and before that the butterfly. But it's def a good starter harness

We tried lifting some 'playing dead' climbers who were stuck in crotches, it's really bloody hard!! Like you dak I'm just thinking out loud and seeing where this will lead. It's good so far
  4. one of the pluses with srt is that you can have the exact length of rope needed and not have an excess flailing around below you-im finding this a definite bonus at the moment

cheers jamie, heaps of info there. one of the scenarios im thinking of lifting the casualty who has cut his rope below his hitch and both rescuer and casualty are working on srt work positioning systems. lanyard lift looks to be the best option, once again cheers bro

    Boots

im with you john-nearly all of my aerial work is done with climbing boots rather than chainsaw boots. bet i cut my foot tomorrow now ive said this..

yep thats a standard rope access lift. its more about making aware that srt climbing brings about different scenarios that have to be looked at and trained for, not just by the climber using it but the whole team. Nice work fellas
  10. i know a guy who had it happen kindof, ill speak to him and get you the info. Is Thane running this bro?
  11. yep, titirangi bro. they built the deck but then had a drain issue which can only be fixed with the tree not there. think the pipe is directly next to the tree and has to all be dug up or something.
  12. nice little saturday morning job. gutted to remove the tree but fun not letting anything hit the brand new deck
  13. er, no idea what thickness the wire i use is sorry but its from an engineer friend, so its some type of welding wire.
  14. This works the same as the traxion but uses a hitch instead. hopefully get some vid of it in use tomorrow-and that the pics make sense

    Tree Art Job

    Awesome work bro, loving it
  17. For me a lesson from this is to go to the local emergency services and let them know what skills you have and to call you if they need you. I imagine a large majority of these people have no idea of the skill level tree climbers/riggers have and would jump at the chance of outside assistance. i know its what im doing tomorrow anyway RIP the woman who died

just opening up the question really kev. I know most people know the counter balance system on dbrt for lifting so was wondering what about for srt. i think turning the srt line into a RADS setup is a nice and easy option for lifting. Lots of people are starting to go SRT so i was just trying to see what people are practicing for rescues. or not practicing. I did a nice big oak working the wrench today and it was superb for that tree-had it on a lowerable base anchor, this for me is one of the advantages.

cheers dave, forgot about that way!
  21. as dave said mark. hollow fids are good for hollow braids such as tenex, icetail etc.. but even then wire fids work well. get into bro:)

    SRT Rescue

the complicatedness of that explnation is what has prompted the question! interested to hear of different scenarios. i reckon this could be interesting. cheers ewan (and onelab)

If you climb predominantly on srt (wrench, uni) and had to do an aerial rescue which involved lifting the casualty, what technique would be the best? apart from just brute strength of course:001_smile:
  24. is that not just core dependant though????
  25. hopefully this shows the snare function of the wire pull fid ok david
