  3. He almost lost his hand! Can you imagine having your hand crushed and caught in that notch and then as the log falls your climbing rope pulls tight.....
  4. I looked in to them but can't get them in the USA.

To get a good match between the climbing rope and the tress cord I stick with 4 wraps and two braids and then keep shortening the tress cord until the combination works perfectly! If it slips, creeps or just does not grab the tress cord is to long. This means scaffold knots on the tress cord of course.

  10. "I like to start saws in the tree as little as possible, so this habit annoys the hell out of me." Hearing idling saws in the tree annoys the hell out of me! LOL. I don't think any two stroke chain saw engine is designed for long idles. It's the nature of the beast. To design them for long idling likely we would loose performance on the top end.

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.

See you inside.
