  3. the melting point of dymeema is 140c to 150c depending in the make up of the matterial, which is better but still less than nylon:001_huh:
  4. Hi Reg

good look with the move, i hope that its not Flitchers who have driven you away, and you still have time to continue developing your ideas.

i have been looking at your vids and new photos and see that when you are useing two ropes you place the rp quite a way back, almost under the hinge, does this help reduce the slack developed in the first part of the lowering or just a where you put them?

Are you coming down to the TCC this year? or which shows are you doing before you go? as it would be good to have a chat.

    cheers

  5. Paul i have to disagree with this, the exposure is to HAVS not chainsaw cuts especally if using a large saw.
  6. i've had birch beer but not wine
  7. and another point most, if not all, chainsaw gloves are class 0 (16m/s) which saws cut at that speed now! havs is more important and the biggest chance of cutting yourself is when sharpening and gripy gloves will stop that
  8. from what i understand, chain saw gloves are an 'old rule' as HF says, but its very hard to change that 'law' and the new HAVS supersedes this, so a good fitting, gripy glove that keeps your pinkeys warm is better than cold slipy chain saw glove. so yes you should wear gloves but not necessarily chain saw gloves!!!
  9. there has been a footlock event in the tcc's for about 16 years in europe and the itcc whats the 'access event' your on about?
  10. and bartlets sponsored lunch to help keep the cost down:thumbup1:may be the isa should have less sponsorship and charge more ?
  11. level 3 loler coures about £350+vat, such as Thorough Examination of Arboricultural Equipment Course monetary wise, five years worth of loler checks would easly be more than that, but is it worth it, now thats a different question
  12. i think this could be what your looking for; the best tree crane i know of Boomrooierij weijtmans i got first dibs......its going to be mine mine mine:001_tt2:
  13. yes you can check your own gear:thumbup1:
  14. i wouldnt think that a one day course would make you a loler examiner, more likley to be a 'competent person' course which would still mean you will need a loler inspection:thumbdown:
  15. as loler applies to all of europe, it should'nt be much of a problem but i hadnt thought about international guest climbers, i guess there will be some one there who might want to do one.
  16. :confused1: its just a current loler cert, though from reading on here i can see why you think thats ther's more than one spec:thumbdown:
  17. looked at that, and my interpretation is that, a yale flip-lines will last until it fails inspection and that there is no time frame for this. we have to work by the manafactures recomondations.
  18. what do i know:blushing:mid may! THE RURAL LIFE CENTRE, TILFORD, FARNHAM, SURREY, GU10 2DL Fri/Sat/Sun – April 29th/30th/1st MAY 2011 (Bank Holiday W/end ISA Tree Climbing Championships :: ISA TCC :: ISA UK&I Chapter
  19. there is NO five year rule, it is the manufacture that decides how long they will last. some olny give items six months use and it could be worn out, others things could go on for 9 years, which is why you 'the user' needs the little card (or just the info)that comes with all your ppe, so you know what to look for when you do you pre-climb inspection
