  1. Sorry about the delay in responding - Yep Ian from Sorbus demo'd it in the pouring rain (so it is waterproof!) And yes, we're putting a business case together at the moment to purchase the 6 sensor LITE w/ bluetooth. Well its the same beast, but we're getting the six sensor which is by definition the Picus LITE. Its not any more portable than the full fat version, its just got less sensors. So you'ld still need the same big box of tricks that runs the fat boy. The advertising is slightly misrepresentative I suppose, as it just shows a dinky little hammer with some wires coming out of it. That ain't the whole picture!

Are there any that don't drive you mad a night with glare?? The TomTom One I borrowed recently was uber bright even on night setting. By the way Peter. I love your new hat but I think you need a shave.
  7. Defo witches broom as the monkster has noted - Taphrina spp. infection isn't it? I've seen it on two adjacent scots pines. Oddly enough in a NT woodland again! Nice hacking
  8. NB:- Posts moved to keep on topic. A fine point. Here's you chance to tell them again, 7 years late!!
  9. Could be a range of things, probably bacterial. Surrounding bark looks ok though? How's the rest of the tree? Hows the foliage? Is it budding well? If everything else looks fine then I wouldn't worry about it.
  10. Thankyou for your charitable interpretation of my typo. Recursive definitions ahoy! I see crimson, not brown. Brown is so 2007.
  11. Lol would have been an appropriate neoglism to preface that image.
  12. I suppose HSE may have considered that you were the operator, and that it's your responsibility under H&S1974 to identify, report and disable dangerous equipment. Some trousers are better than others. Chinos are rubbish.
  13. See, a Dog, not a cat. Somethings up here, I think someones telling porky pies...
  14. I thought he was more into dogs
  15. And he named you Cats?
  16. Are you related to Peter?
  17. Sound like good trousers. So not allowing maintenance time was a factor?
  18. What was your accident? Care to enlighten us? I'm assuming it wasn't parking your car upside down in a river
  19. Bish -One problem is criminalisation requires effective enforcement, and I don't know how that could be acheived... They sell McCullochs in Tesco now Cats - I doubt that enforcement would noticibly affect competition. Maybe the incidence of chainsaw accidents is normal? Maybe it's within acceptable limits?? They are fairly dangerous things...
  20. Thanks Linda. The Euro Tree Pruning guide is certainly more affordable! Accessibility of information is, to my mind, fundamental to the future of this industry. Charging 80-90 quid for outdated info is unproductive, and puts the information out of the reach of the people who need it. However, I know that even with the review - the price will be the same. The reason for my original post was to gauge what exposure people had to the original as a way of predicting exposure to the new standard. Progress hey?
  21. Don't bother trying to do better than anyone except yourself. Don't try out new techniques in the comp trees! The Aerial Rescue?? Keep the climb as simple as possible. Less stress allows your brain to work on the waffle!!!
  22. I know I used to rush things in winter to beat the darkness. Another thing I'd be interested in is what the HSE propose to do about accidents caused by commercial pressures??? I'm not sure there is anything that can practicably be done.
  23. Commercial pressure or just poor job planning? Maybe a bit of both???
