  1. Thanks for the advice guys a couple of days with a walk behind has done a great job..
  2. Not a journal I take .. Do you have the details?
  3. Post Code is DE72 3NX Our loader operator up until last week would have been OK to load but has sold his loader. We are sourcing another... So loading should be do-able.. You can get an arctic to it, stobarts regularly collects chip from the same location. I don't want log fairies or have a goes with chainsaws and folk filling up car boot loads.. It is a mix of soft and hard woods, big lumps and small (although we chip most under 10 inch). Price-wise I am open to offers but I want rid and it must cover loading... Best to chat with Steve: 0778 6916 103
  4. I have a couple of 100 tons of Arb arisings I could do with being taken away.. Is anyone buying it? We are in the East Midlands between Derby and Nottingham..
  5. It is not ideal I agree. What other options are there? My advice was not to do it, but the council are demanding the off street parking and that is holding up the planning for the rest of the development. I can't see the council being happy with a spec that says hand dig investigations may show drive installation is not possible.
  6. It's mad.. The planned development is for a single mum with a disabled child, they want to extend over the footprint of a current garage (that is full of stuff but no car!) to have a downstairs bedroom .. They currently park their one car on the road which is a cul-de-sac with plenty of on street parking... The council however want 2 off street parking spaces...
  7. I have a client who has been asked by the council to provide evidence that a dropped kerb can be installed without damaging the street trees. To be honest the client doesn't really want off street parking but the council are insisting as it is part of their planning policy...? Can this be done? Has anyone done it successfully? How can we provide evidence? We could use a cellweb for the parking area, but without digging up the footpath how can we be sure what roots are there?
  8. I was going to take it off our truck when we first got it but really useful. We have loaded huge lumps. 4 or 5 guys can manhandle it onto the lift, then have to help the lift by lifting with it. Then slide it onto the truck. Less sawing , less sawdust. great..
  9. The tail gate slides down while in a horizontal position. It can foul the tow bar on some trucks and even the floor when pulling forward emptying on rough ground with lots of chip on.. But it saves your back when loading big lumps..
  10. The current plan is to use a Ferrari Flail Mower walk behind.. Anyone think that won't work
  11. https://honeybros.com/index.php?sid=35ie6w3sa5751f3x8b0a44537u09e7f0&app=ecom&ns=prodsearchp&ecom--prodsearch--string=grcs&SUBMIT=Go If anyone else is looking...
  12. Harken were great with the wnich bits anyone replaced the rubber feet?
  13. I have 2 both about 15 years old, (I don't use then for tree work any more) a red one and a white one... The metal brackets to fit the ear defenders on were a bit of a mare but they certainly outlasted the modern stuff! The red one is like new.... I am not going to the arb show however...
  14. Our 6 ton iveco has a tow bar and tail lift with no issues. I had all sorts of trouble trying to find one for the Izusu, till I had a look and realised it already had one, but was missing a bit. It is basically a piece of 4x4 inch box section welded to the chassis, the tow bar is on another piece of box section which fits inside the bit on the chassis. You have movethe tow ball in when you tip, or the tail lift hits it. It is a bit of a pain but tail lift often very useful..
  15. My guys left the almost brand new 880 and a 261 on site a few weeks ago. I got a phone call from someone saying I have just seen someone putting your saws in the back of their car and the number plate. I was about to call the police when the guy who was spotted with the saws called and told me he had my saws safe.. I could have kissed him. The guys I could have ......! He has earn't himself free logs for life...
  16. That is saying the amplitude of movement from subsidence can be managed by pruning. Nothing to do with heave caused from the swelling of permanently dried soils after the removal of a tree.. Althouth IIRC reductions need to have 70% of foliage removed and it is only effective for 3 years... This bit is relevent to the original post and there is no mention of staged felling....
  17. I know this is often the advice given, but I am pretty sure that it's nonsense.. If there is a persistent moisture deficit caused by the tree that has caused the ground to shrink, removing the tree over time will just prolong the length of time it takes for the heave to take place. The same change will occur, and so theoretically the same damage. Hence Adams comment..
  18. This is the long and short of it.. even if there is heave as far as I am aware you just have to fix the problems so there is no point faffing with engineers reports.
  19. Where is the best place to get parts for our GRCS, the guys have smashed it up...
  20. OK so anyone know where I can hire a walk behind or RDC flail mower in the east midlands? Nottingham/Derby...
