  4. I heard that Derbyshire CC were thinking of selling offf the estate to a private company so this job may not be a long one. I'd ask about it at the interview. Nice place though and lots of great trees that need attention.
  5. That sounds fun Alex how would you organise it against the clock or just each person would raise money for their own or designated charity?
  6. Doh and after all my efforts at the UK Tree Climbing Finals:sad:.........................
  7. You really don't want to see me in my Hi-flex and braces its not pretty...

  11. Friday the 13th !! If your lucky Nod might even get blacked up in all his morris dancing gear and give us a jig !!
  12. Oh my, if you are in the least bit interested in tree climbing you really should make an effort to attend Noddys workshop's at the trade fair. I was amazed at how few folk turned up to the free workshops Honey Brothers arranged in 2006. You missed out, so don't do it again. Thanks Nod
  13. Yes 16.2 KN and attached to seperate places probably isn't going to meet LOLER requirements. The new Yale Silver Streak is coming in at 2KN so is stronger stuff but still a little short of the magic 22KN required for use in this scenario.
  14. Steve I tried the Ryblon the other day the outer sheath does seem to wear quite quickly I put it down to the fine strands that make up the outer sheath. Have you tried the new Yale Silver Streak on it yet? We tried the Liros at the east of england and from new couldn't get it to grip that well in a VT formation, just too stiff from new. Swapped it over for some Silver Streak and worked first time. Keen to know how you get on.
  15. What the SWL on the accesory cord you are using for the bridge? If it isn't making 22KN you might be on a non starter regarding LOLER. This cord was only CE'd for limited uses and this information isn't usually handed out at point of sale, might be an idea to check manufacturers guide to use. Nice idea though, I like the set up. Do's it move all the weight distribution to your lower back?
  16. Was wondering how to teach my new spaniel "Totty" to swim had asked a few mates but in the end didn't need to worry. Whilst beating on our local shoot she saw a bird go down in the reservoir and to my initial horror did a 30 meter retrieve from the bank. Oh well ! My old boarder terrier Grommit can't swim. Unfortunately he forgets this fact now and again usually just long enough to get well out in some discusting smelly pond from which he requires rescue! His litter brother Wallace is fine with water and loves it apart from bathtime !
  17. Is that the woman from Trees Unlimited ??
  18. What a great couple of days ! This is the second time I've attended (and helped sponsor) the East of England. All the lads were great fun and very supportive of each other always nice to see. Sorry if I bored you all to death with the running commentary only so many ways you can explain tree climbing! I hope it gave the crowd an insight in to our very specialist industry and why you are all worth the money they "should" be paying. Thanks to Chalky, Gillian, Andy, Tony and everyone else who helped organise and set up this bloody fun event!! Long may it last that way.
  19. Brilliant weekend we helped sponsor at the first of these events three years ago and were pleased to get involved again this year. The atmosphere is brilliant and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Great to see how some of the younger climbers have come on over the last three years. Nice to see everyone getting on and helping each other brilliant time thanks to Chalky, Andy and Tony and all the lads that help set up the weekend. I am already looking forward to next year. Nick
  20. Keeping the teeth an even size is just as important as keeping the teeth sharp. Shapening your saw in the field is a nessesary skill but keep an eye on the tooth length if they become uneven they put unessesary strain on the chain and in time it may fail causing injury. I've just serviced my neighbours chainsaw what a mess! Everything clogged with chain oil and saw dust the teeth were all over the place and the chain was so slack you could almost pass a finger between it and the bar, as long as you didn't mind taking your finger off on the burred edges.
  21. Apparently Bunny Guiness recommends it for oiling your tools! http://www.atsh97.dsl.pipex.com/gt/www.gt85.co.uk/telegraph.htm
  22. Sounds great .....but I still wouldn't eat it
  23. Jonesie Stocks them! see above Along with most of the other Fletcher Stewart retailers accross the UK. To find your local stockist use their dealers page http://www.fletcherstewart.co.uk/dealer_locator.php
