  1. Couple of things that made me chuckle, my drive etc doesn't need doing the fence is fine and there are no trees in my back garden. Maybe I ought to ring him and invite him round - then try and sell him a chipper. Then he too can join the Wee Chipper Club! On the other hand, I'd never be happy leaving GreenMech stock at home:blushing:
  2. That's a four stroke engine so adding oil to your fuel mix will foul up the plugs and possibly the carb too. Try tightening up the manifold to stop the leak, drain the tank and refill, check oil level, fit clean plugs and check for a spark before you go delving into the motor. Always look for the cheap simple fixes before the big toolbox comes out.
  3. Today I had a leaflet pushed thro my door from my "local" person W%$£"(*&^%s tree Care and Landscapes. 0800 .......... Pruning: To reduce size, remove crossed, diseased and shaded branches to increase yield. Lopping: Removal of diseased or problem limbs Felling: Diseased, dangerous or unwanted trees sectioned or removed. Topping: To reduce wind or snow damage or to clear telephone or electricity cables. Pollarding: Cut back to main trunk on suitable trees. Hedges: Lowered trimmed and tidied. Oh, and he will also take care of fencing, slabbing, gravelling and turfing. I just love his technical explanations........................ I wonder what the utility people think.......................
  4. Brightwells at Leominster have all of the Environmental Agency fleet go through them.
  5. Our Navara blew the turbo when the warranty was just out and I have heard of a few other issues relating to clutch/flywheel, gearbox and rear diff. Other than that, they have biggish horse power and a far more comfortable than the old version and my 4 year old Isuzu. A bit thirsty tho'
  6. I met some National Trust boys years ago that all got blinding headaches and nausea when chipping the stuff using a top loading gravity chipper! They were told to get contractors in to finish the job as Laurel was from a group of plants that gave off cyanide fumes.
  7. LOL, Stevie, I'll buy you a beer at Ciren. The buyers were unlikely to use Arbtalk but I do inform people of the community (do I get a bung Mr P? lol) Is there a forum for Plant Hire people? Those at Cov saw the size of the hole, the high discharge and the price at that sold it and the possible return, not my sparkling looks, wit or repartee!
  8. Just finished exhibiting at the Executive Hire Show at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. It has to be reported that 5 "Wee Chippers" were sold off the stand to hire companies. So that is three new members to the club - but do they count as full members or guests only?
  9. Strip down, shot blast, high phospate primer and powder coat!
  10. As a rough guide, allow a 17% drop in hp from engine to shaft. I've fitted loads of 6" GreenMechs to tractors of 25-45hp. The lower the hp the more often the "No Stress" deivce will cut in and the longer it takes to spin up again.
  11. Second that. Want to rent our Multitask? PM me if required.
  12. I know it sounds daft but, are your blades razor sharp and what nick is the anvil in? Is the engine revs dropping fast? - is so, then it could be a fuel issue namely, not enough fuel getting thro at peak demand. When running, are the flywheel bearings getting hot, are they getting tight? Is the engine getting tight/seized?
  13. If you made a film of Paddy Mayne it might not be good watching as his injuries, age and alcoholism that effectively ruled his life after the war were really troubling him. His exploits on the field of rugby and battle, his sheer couragousness nd integrity were indeed legendary but this period would have been overshadowed by his dark times. What a soldier tho'.
  14. Clacker twitching like a rabbits nose.
  15. There was a thread about this sometime ago and to me it seemed scary high. GreenMech blade bolts are done up to 150newton metres or about 118 foot pounds. Have a quick search through the previous threads in this section.
  16. Bet his clacker was going like a rabbits nose, why did he not turn and run? Good vid mind.
  17. To be fair, the GreenMech dealer had a full diary of other things to do when the demo was requested. The machine was at another depot I know, which doesn't help but sometimes us sales people cannot be there when your job has to be done. It can be awkward at times but if the time/place doesn't fit both diaries then someone is going to feel put out. How would you buyers feel if when taking about a demonstration I turned around said "No, it's this friday or you can forget it!" You would likely just walk away and get something else, but if you want friday and we cannot get their because of prior arrangements, sorry, but get over it and re-book.
  18. The anvil, bed knife, shear bar is always very important, in that once rounded orf, it tends to shred material rather than chip. This action tends to be harder on the machine and the quality of your chips i naff.
  19. Methinks it is the No Stress indicator, red at low rpm, green when it is inth zone.
  20. The Dids always cleared mine of the metal stuff. Sometimes without even asking them!

All sound advice so far. Same with any problem tho, keep calm and logical, check the cheep fixes first like wiring/connections, check that the nipple is indeed moving the spool before panicing.
  22. Fair play Andy, will the buzz last as long as it did in your youf?
  23. her arse was that big she wore a G rope!
  24. you do notice the extra when doing denser material as the drum slows down slower, plus you don't have the fun of pulling it over when you've forgotten to lift up the emergency stop button on the infeed!
  25. Colour, texture, grain, bark and smell generally gives the game away to species. A key way to ident fresh split Ash is it turning pink. Ash grown in a field of beast will soak up their urine and have a strong odour to it.
