  1. "At this point i would like to state that at no point do i feel the the systems put in place by my current employer are inadequate or dangerous and the contents of my postings are in no way designed meant or accidently created to be detromental to persons or company" Sorry to be annual I know the my department head is an arbtalk member and i do not wish for any thing to be dissconstrodue? Thanks
  2. Thanks AA Teccie you come from a good stand point i have worked for a few different companies and my current employer has a, lets say an "alternative way" of doing things. I have been on site during two AA site visits so have a insight into the practicises looked for in a safe site and your comments hark back of more familiar days.
  3. Very cool i use a table saw alot so know how nasty these things can be.
  4. What i starting to come to think is that if people are unclear of what the next step after reporting a true near miss, is that there is a fear of the unknow. If there is a clear and constructive postitive action falling a near miss then blokes are more likely to do the nearmiss thing ???
  5. Hi big boss beechwood your an employer how do you go about this kind of situation ??? the department i work within the managers are just that and IMO don't have a "working relashionship" with the team members in part i feel because of the pressures to be productive in there own right:thumbdown: I think that in a smaller out fit the owner/manager might have worked with the employees and have a first hand vantage point of there staff and issues can be addressed abit more relaxed enviroment ???
  6. Slimbo good point I worked for a company called Banyards and if you cracked a door mirror on a vehicle etc then thay had a driving instructor come and down a assesment of your driving. I do understand the consequenses (questionable spelling sorry) of not highlighting short comings in peoples skills and slip ups.
  7. I agree with you comments my point is i guess is how other companies turn this type of culture round from being one of dropping someone in the s**t for small a misdemeaner to being a positive pickup and reducate ??
  8. :thumbup1:I am glad that the subject seems to be taken in the correct manner. I have also pondered the fact that company i work for is not an arb based company and the department is very much a minority, can this scheme be apllied to two different industrys with in one operation ????
  9. Im not very good at communicating my thoughts but i will try without rambling to much. The issue i would like to openly disscus with the group is reporting of "near miss events" (for want of a better phrase) my observasion is that the company is obsesed with near miss reports and my intrest is the culture with in the teams of snitching on each other and how other companies encourge the reporting of NM's could this be twisted to be a postive force. I completly understand the bigger picture and the models of a number nearmiss a number of accidents leading to a fatality.
  10. Ditto I'm not a lifer and am relativly a newbie to the experanced guys on here however i have had exeperiances with ground crew and rigging that have had me bail out and shout at guys twice my size (not braging) at the end of the day as bob says educate your crew and the next job you never know thay could have the capstan, rope, block all out sorted whilst you spike the victim ??? If thay are that inept then should you be doing the job with them on site ??? as staff can be a risk to trainnes etc
