  4. This has been a issue at work recently, there is a guy on our firm that has had a run of bad luck hes a foreman on one of the gangs and carries the responseablity for his crews mishaps too realy feel for his situtation. If someone is a subcontractor working for a firm then your paying a premium for there service and thay should carry the liabilty (thats how it is in the building game) on the other hand employees don't earn as much and in many cases struggle to buy and maintain there personal kit and the employers mark up on the hourly rate should cover the rare occaisnal damage but if guys are regulaur damagers then you should be asking yourself why you employ this person ?? is more education needed etc etc

  10. the lasted total arb landed on my door mat today page three has a picture of some boots from arbortec with a sizeable gash and short write up about three months layed up and never climbing again, makes me thankfull of those class 2 treemme boots that as is happens are bloody comfortable (even in this warm weather) cant see me buying anything different.
  11. when i did my assesments 30 31 we where ask to find a tree in this compartment put your gab cut in then the assesor came and found us. Then i explained what i was going to do to get the tree down and did it, as far as names go if your given the lantra books then i think its fair to know the names as the book states but then if your assesed on your knowledge alone then i would image that the assesor has assumed the operater has high level of skill and failing on names of cuts reflects on the assesor:evilgrin02:

    Morals.

Heres a different moral situation for you guys. I was working on the companys stand at the new forest show when this chap comes over asks about the wallnut that we sell. Then he says that he planted a wallnut tree in his parents back garden when he was young and his ageing mother was going in to nursing home he wants to cut down this tree purly because he does'nt want any one else to enjoy or cut it down, start to explain about that tree spade machine to relocate it but then money is an issue. I short this guy did'nt want to leave the tree for anyone else, or pay to move it but would brake the law by cutting it down him self cause he was'nt going to speak to his tree officer for fear of a tpo being put on the thing. His attitude fustrated he had to walk away from him.
  18. i help a freind who has been a firewood merchant for years his set is a processor pto driven a big vertical splitter agian pto driven and a honda powered horizontal splinter. He mixes the loads with cord and rings has a pick and tipping atlas trailer at the hight of the heating season there be four of us in the yard going hell for leather works like a dream but he has a massive custmer base regulaurs and all that.
  19. I work for a small timber mill and thay scream out for surgeons to bring in rare unusaul timber. As for those saw attachments was at the AA show i was looking at one of these things empressed with this table being cut from a big butt when heard someone say that one was being used when the operaters hand slip of that handle in front of the saw and punched though the perspex on the chain "ouch" at this point i turned on my heels and looked at the moble bandsaws could just be a romuor but looking at the jig looked fessable
  20. Thanks
  21. my youngest son 3 at the time managed to cut the top of his finger whilst choppin play dough with those plastic scissors. you've been warned

  23. Ive just brought my first pair of boots, plumpt for the treemme's ive read countless forum threads on boots and if thay only last a year at best as this seems to be the case then fine. The one thing i would say cause i know treemme boots get slated is that ive worn them for over a month and had no prolems with blisters or rubbing one week was mud plugging at the new forest show untill i start climbing thayll do just fine, bring on your comments??

    Morals.

i've been self employed for some time and found that peolple can come up with the old chestnut of " but matey down the road said he'd do it for this much" my reply has all ways been well get him to do it. at the end of the day if you drop the price of what you do some thing has to give time, materials, etc and that reflects on the service you provide. I say keep your moral standard and youll reap the rewards customers that trust and apperciate a good clean professional job
