  2. ok as i forgot to specify locations! but from now on just UK. sorry folks!
  3. no worries! in fact I'll extend the offer to anyone applying before Christmas!
  4. http://www.sevsafe.co.uk/acatalog/Mapa_Professionnel_Gloves.html Sorry about the plug - you could look at this page of our website e.g. SM/548ULTB - have also got a new Kong glove not yet on website - bit less money than the current one at http://www.sevsafe.co.uk/acatalog/Arborist_Climbing_Aids.html We'll send a free pair of SM/548ULTB to first 10 people to send PM request with mailing details. This info. won't be stored unless you ask to be put on our mailing list. Data Protection blah blah blah
  5. Here's one for the oldies - first single Glad All Over - Dave Clark Five. Latest acquisition Mason Jennings compilation CD home made by youngest son!
  6. xselent
  7. Microflex is classed as breathable but there are different levels so it's not so effective as , say, Goretex - nor is it the same sort of price, of course! I take your point about the thorns but that applies to a lot of gear. We have got a new range coming from Lyngsoe - not on website yet and also only in black/grey with a bit of reflective stuff on. We can also get hi-viz Goretex gear from Kansas / Fristads but we've been a bit reluctant to promote it too much because the jackets don't conform to our local (i.e. English) requirements for high speed roads tho' they do conform to EN471. also lots of money! not sure if all this helps much but we are always open to constructive suggestions.
  8. you could have a look at our website http://www.sevsafe.co.uk/acatalog/Lyngs_e_Microflex_Clothing.html
  9. I know this is not very arb but has anyone discovered a way of protecting neck/throat from stones etc thrown up by strimmers owhy
  10. i'm not an arborist but my wife is a nurse. was in oz earlier this year - apparently they're crying out for nurses in Cairns e.g.
  11. Thanks for your comments. I guess the mags have to try and cover different levels of knowledge and experience etc. What does anyone think of the established forestry titles like FBT/essential arb or FTN? Or some of the newer ones trying to include arb content like Forest Machine Journal?
  12. might have to be a limited period promotional offer!
  13. The Truflex is new to us. It's widely used in Canada for different sorts of workwear not just chainsaw gear. It claims to be 'a soft, durable and wrinkle resistant 12% stretch twill'. The design A trousers have a more conventional polycotton outer material which we've had no problems with over the last couple of years since we started selling this range. I'm not promoting the idea of climbers using design A trousers as I think it's pretty clear that they are SUPPOSED to wear c's ! As far as protection to the front of the leg goes this should be the same whether it's a or c
  14. say £80 + VAT (List £110.75 + VAT) Design C Design A (not Truflex outer material but are lightweight) £60.00 + VAT
  15. Total Arb is really just the house mag for Buxtons / Arbessentials. Euroarb is a better bet IMO. As an advertiser I'd be interested to know if anyone takes much notice of print anymore. It seems that this sort of forum is the best source of information along with the websites of suppliers and various organisations associated with the industry.
  16. would anyone like to try our new Truflex Arblite trousers. could do a good deal for arbtalkers. could even be a competition prize? http://www.sevsafe.co.uk/acatalog/arblite_chainsaw_clothing.html
  17. a lot of people are wearing both. the mesh visors don't always keep out the small stuff
  18. b and c just refers to the area covered by the protective material. b is not much different to a (front protection) it was included in the EN standard just for the Finns who had experienced cuts to the femoral artery so it consists of extending the protective material by 5 cms on the inside of the right leg and the outside of the left leg. as far as i know it's not really used in the UK. The design of the garment doesn't really matter as long as the prescribed areas are protected. the only things that are specifically not allowed are separate legs i.e. the old chaps.
  19. .. or http://www.sevsafe.co.uk/acatalog/Bolle_Safety_Spectacles.html to be more precise
  20. Can I just plug our website http://www.sevsafe.co.uk for a range of Bolle safety specs. Cheers!
  21. From a suppliers point of view we thought it was pretty good http://www.sevsafe.co.uk
  22. All safety boots (but not shoes) can be zero rated if purchased by an individual for their own use. if a company buys them and supplies them to employees then they are subject to VAT. please don't ask why - it's the law - not logic! a lot of suppliers just charge VAT if customer is registered and don't if they are not.
  23. Type a is front protection, c all round. To be picky in the EN standard they are referred to as Design A and Design C. 'Recommended' as used in HSE guidance leaflets, for instance, is a stronger word than you might think. These leaflets represent the law on these points and in the case of an accident you could be prosecuted for not following their 'guidance'
  24. Thanks for the nice words about Tremmee. As for the Jolly boots we're not going ahead with those - sorry! We are hoping to get a new Steitz boot with Goretex lining in the next couple of months.
  25. we (Severnside) will be at this Show stand F3. would be pleased to see any of you!
