The HSE are very hesitant about recommending av gloves it's true. I believe that this has to do with their inability to test their efficacy scientifically. There's a lot of empirical / anecdotal evidence that they are useful but of course all the control measures mentioned by other contributors are important. You real ale drinkers should try the elusive Hereford Pale Ale - best enjoyed by the Wye at Symonds Yat outside the Saracens Head! Apart from some of the others already mentioned (especially the St. Austell Tribute) I also really like a Butcombe Blonde. For those visiting Cheltenham you could try The Swan at the upper end of the high street. Almost always has Cumberland and or other Jennings beers - (at least 3 ales from various places) also murky cider.

It's true we only have camo in C now.
