  1. That's good to know, thanks!
  2. You have a link for that? I looked at their website and didn't see anything about it.
  3. That's a great tip for lining the cuts up. Thanks!
  4. I am not based in the UK, but would be keen to join as well. I have been wanting to do just this for some time now and it would be really great to join your group.
  5. I use an appropriately sized metal washer instead of a ball for retrieval. I find it works better when the rings (or thimbles) are choked up tight against the stem.
  6. Pink rope rocks!
  7. Homemade rope wrench, awesome! I think Mr. Bingham will be happy to see that.
  8. I'm not convinced by that video. They climber had his weight on his primary climbing line the whole time he was descending SRT on the Positioner. Is it possible to smoothly descend SRT on the Positioner without any other support?
  9. A hitch really is the classic for a lanyard adjuster and I find to actually be more reliable than the Cinch. However, the Cinch has the option to be used SRT which opens up another world of positioning options. Anyone know of any other lanyard adjuster that can be used SRT?
  10. This one looks interesting, from the maker of the Unicender: Hipster
  11. Price difference?
  12. That Smart Winch looks sweeeeet!
  13. I've been climbing on the American version for half a year. Great rope, and the pink color is awesome.
  14. I'm bummed to hear that the Cinch is out of production. Maybe I should buy another one now while they are still available. I love it for a lanyard adjuster, mainly because of how well it works with 10mm line, and because it's the only lanyard adjuster I know of that works equally well DdRT and SRT.
  15. Same knot, tied a bit differently: Rock Climbing Knot: Double Figure Eight (Bunny Ears) Dave, I haven't had any issues with the loops becoming distorted. The only worry I have is the carabiner may become misoriented during remote setting of this tie off. It hasn't happened yet, and once it's cinched up the carabiner doesn't move much, if at all, but I always give it a sharp eye before putting weight on it after initial installation.
  16. Here's a few pictures of the bunny ears cinch. These are not my photos, but I do basically the same, using a double figure 8 knot and an HMS style carabiner.
  17. I'll try to get a picture of the bunny ears anchor for you guys. It's really quick and has worked well for me so far.
  18. Dave, what do you think of using the "bunny ears" knot with a carabiner vs. the maillon?
  19. I know, sounds like it would drive me mad!
  20. Holy crap, for that price the throwline should throw itself into the tree!
  21. Keep your knees a bit out, sort of like a very slightly bowlegged cowboy. This keeps the angle of the spike pointed straight into the tree and reduces gaffing out. If your knees point inwards than the spikes are pointing more downward and you'll be more likely to gaff out.
  22. I'm with Steve. The Petzl airline has been very troublesome for me.
  23. The reason those harnesses aren't CE approved is that they are made for the USA market. That being the case they meet the ANSI work positioning harness standard.
  24. You have some monstrous hedges over there in the UK.
