  1. First impressions of the ipad 2 are very good. It's a toy though not a replacement for the laptop
  2. what time is this finishing? I am out of the country at the minute so need to make sure I am on line to counter act any gazzumping
  3. Yet another Huddersfield tree surgeon with a land rover, were you feeling left out?
  4. On the defenders the GVW is 3.5T, the towing max is 3.5T and the train weight is 7 tonne so to be over you have to be over on more than 1
  5. Toyota landcruiser, Nissan Patrol, Defenders and disco's
  6. I agree but that is more than a bit of dirt, that's months worth. All I am saying is you cannot say the machine is well maintained and looked after when it looks like that. Swapping the blades every week isn't always necessary if the machine is only doing a few hours chipping a week. If I dip the oil on the truck every week but do nothing else does it make it well maintained? A wash off every so often will show up areas of rust etc which are sometimes the precurser to a failure.
  7. Throwing a bucket of soapy water and sponge around the machine once a week/month will give you a chance to visually examine the externals, greasing and blade changing is all well and good but is only half a maintenance check. If I was a Jenson rep coming to check this I would immediately think neglect compared to a nice clean machine
  8. Question 1 - Not sure Question 2 - you would need to chop and extend the fuel lines, wiring loom, prop, brake lines, etc but it is do-able Question 3 - Bolt on - mine is. I have a tipper chassis bolted to brackets on the 130 chassis. The brackets in my case are welded on but I don't see why you couldn't just bolt them on. Question 4 - I bought my pump, reservoir and ram from ebay (£60 ish 2 years ago). They were removed from a transit. I use a 4 stage direct ram not a single stage ram with scissor set-up and get it to tip well past 45 degrees so no problems offloading anything. If you need any pics let me know Kev
  9. I would have said legal. A year or so ago my brother (post 97 license) was driving the landy and it was stopped at a VOSA check. There was no trailer on the landy and nothing in the chip box so all was legal however the VOSA officer stated my brother could not drive the landy as it had a tow bar on it and had the capability to tow more than the 750kg his license entitled him to tow. I asked him what car he drove (BMW 320, I think he said) and told him surely it wasn't allowed on the road as it was capable of exceeding the 70mph limit for british roads. He agreed with my argument but also said the towing laws were subject to interpretation in a number of ways, some of which are plain rediculous like the above. In my opinion you legally allowed to tow up to 3.5 tonne Your trailer is capable of carrying the load The gross trailer load is less than the 3.5 tonne trailer limit and less than the 3.3 tonne towing vehicle limit.
  10. Mines a 130 single cabwith an aluminium back so weight is spread much better over the 2 axles. A few years ago I did measure the different axles and total weight but that was empty. I remember that I did have enough spare weight on the back axle to send the whole rig the wrong side of 3500kg before the back axle went over on its own. Mine very full weighs inexcess of 4.5 tonnes(wet conifer chip no driver or passengers) taking 6+ cube of chip. This was checked on a site clearance where the chip went from one side of the site to another, not via public roads.
  11. Some of the prices quoted on here seem crazy. How long does it take to cut 2 acres with a ride on? £200+ 2 or 3 times a month from now until October, £3k plus for the grass cutting per year. 10 customers like that and I will work just 1 day a week, 8 months of the year and be pretty happy.
  12. VCA 2010 RACE RUN on Vimeo Hope this works
  13. Is the incidence of serious injury and fatality increasing within the profession or is it the shear number of artalk members that means we are hearing about it? Stay safe everyone and condolances to his family. Kev
  14. Steve said if the tongs make a hundred quid he will package them in his lucky thong for the winner:sneaky2:
  15. Rich, I've sorted the payment with Mick. Thanks Kev
  16. This was a fun one, row of 42 trees to come out. The golden was TPO'd and the TO initially refused it's removal but said I could remove the other 41 (no protection). I argued the point that it would look shocking and I eventually got the right result. It took removing the others and submitting photos!! Not sure how the TPO on only 1 came about, I can only assume it was a replant TPO and the person who planted it stuck it in the middle of a hedge row.
