  1. Guys look out of the window, there's no such thing as a natural world / landscape. Everything we see is man made from the arable fields of Suffolk to the Mountainsides of The Lake Distrct. Heathland is being managed for the flora and fauna that would otherwise die out. Heathland is the only habitat that supports all 6 of our native reptiles. Andy that job you described sounds like a badly managed project, i have worked on heathland projects for over 12 years the main problem is insuffcient funding to carry the maintenance forward and lack of public support to fence and graze.
  2. They are fantastic pieces of equipment, I had a Valmet for 2 years with a roof mounted botex 560 which was a good crane although slow without a pto pump. Make sure you go for solid wheels as wheel weights sheer off and that the crane is mounted on a short kingpost behind the cab rather than on the roof. This keeps the centre of gravity lower and gives you more reach. Good luck.
  3. Met someone today who is buying in roundwood at 10.00 a ton !!!! Needless to say he wouldn't tell me who lol !!

  6. I had that exact same model, not a day goes by i don't cry into my brew about selling it
  7. I would imagine the price on the forecourt won't change so instead of being able to claim back 17.5 p on your 1.00 alitre of diesel you'll only be able to claim back 15p ?
  8. That's a very early mini skid lol

Bugger no i didn't I was actually on the ground when i took that photo but it makes a good talking point lol
  10. I thought of you the instant this was announced because of your price list thread. Could you not just print some stickers out to slap on catalogues and but a header on your website to save all the admin. This is a pointless step just more admin for small businesses.
  11. PM me your best price then Chris
  12. The Xylon is made by Class, that is a Fendt spraying base. Wouldn't want to modify that as i'm pretty sure the weight distribution would be off.
  13. My lad had this about 2 weeks ago threw up constantly for 48 hrs nice

    My new toy.

Yes but I was told I could by HMCE for tree surgery and I have a letter to that effect.
  15. Why refer to AC Price and Atkinson Vos as the two up North ? I'm sure we wouldn't refer to Arb shops it that way ? I found Vos reasnoble for 2nd hand parts but don't order new from them as they'll only come direct from Mudie Bond with a Vos mark up lol !!
  16. The chicken and egg scenario with woodfuel versus boiler is i think an argument that was true 3 years ago but is dead in the water now. Yes the FC is looking into biomass and indeed has it's own supply contract in Wales (under duress) however biomass will not move forwards until more money is available to pay landowners for the wood.

AHHHH This old Chestnut !! First don't take Mog dealers word, arbtalk word, mate down the roads word or anything for gospel. It is YOUR responsible to satisfy yourself that you are acting within the law. I have been pulled for red and i got away with it, i can't be bothered typing it all out again just do a search on here. As part of my new job i have visited hundreads of tree surgeons across the country and this subject invariable comes up if they have a Mog, the ones that have been pulled have got away with it because although on intial inspection it would appear they are breaking the law there is NOTHING difinitive to pin on the and as Dave says until it goes to court nobody will know for sure. One guy got pulled and had VOSA and HMCE come out to his yard, they say going through documents and cross referencing for over 2 hours and couldn't make a descion. In the end the HMCE officer gave this tree surgeon his card telling him it wasn't a get out of free card but if he was pulled to present it to the stopping officer so he could call him and clarify the situation. The officer said he would come back to the tree surgeon when he had the definitive answer and that was over a year ago now. Me personally i registered and ran my Mog as an agricultural vehicle but i ran it on white towards the end. It was still a viable option run on white. Some have said i shouldn't have done this as i was admitting i knew it was wrong to run on red. Have fun !
  18. Almost certainly the case !!
  19. Hello mate, give me a call we can help him shift the waste. He could fell and we'll extract and chip. With regards to a market for poplar as has been said before it makes good firewood once seasoned but give me a call and we can discuss options. Ta Matt. 07515 062186
  20. Alot of woodlands were planted to produce timber but when timber prices dropped the landowners couldn't afford to thin them etc. But yes the term neglected woodland could indeed lead to confusion.
  21. Yep, un-managed woodlands have no infrastructure. I think these people reckon the trees float out of the woods on there own !
  22. Yeah i know, i ment that as well just rushing to get in the bath lol. Overun brakes etc are no biggie to sort.
  23. You could still road tow providing the tyres were correct and speed rated and you had appropriate lighting. Would be towed with a Land Rover.
  24. Cheers JP that's the one !!
  25. Doubtfull David, lots of folks in the same position as yourself. The only real way forwards is to stock pile as much chip as you can then 50.00 to the farmer up the road isn't such a hit. Looking forward to the trailer pictures
