  1. Hi mate, we have one on a Valmet forwarder but i haven't seen it work yet. I had a Botex 560 on a roof mount and considered one for heathland clearance work but to be honest i reckon it would be quicker to hand fell. What are you looking to use it on material wise ?

  2. It's irrelevant mate i would have the good grace not to keep going on about it at every opportunity
  3. I look forward to the day something goes very wrong for you and we can all 'pull' your leg
  4. I can echo what this man says, that's just the way i went
  5. Jees somebody is lacking any Christmass cheer ! Hope it is back on the road before Christmass for you Dave. FWIW I suffered excactly the same prediciment, the advice was the same, don't turn it off, drive carefully and keep the water topped up. I was however a good deal further from my yard than Dave on a busy dual carriageway so I had it recovered at great cost...........
  6. Won't know if the jobs happening till after xmass now Stuart. I'll put you in the ever growing list !!
  7. Oh shoot Dave so sorry to hear this, i know exactly what this will cost you and it isn't pretty. Hope things work out quickly for you as downtime is the biggest killer when this happens. I suppose in some ways it's the best time for something like this to happen as you were probably about to have time off anyway. Is Alex re-building the engine or are you looking for a replacement ? Best of luck, Matt.
  8. I used to have alot of lads out with me from college on work experience and no you are not required to pay them anything. Many needed an awfull lot of supervision and input and many had no tickets whatsoever add that to all the paperwork involved, diaries at the end of the day etc and it can be a ball ache. However somebody once gave me the chance to gain experience so even though i was a small business and couldn't afford to pay these people full wack i would give them a chance. I'd try to at least give them enough to cover food and petrol and if we did well a bonus at the end of the week. It's easy to jump on the band wagon and shout at 20.00 a day without the full story.....
  9. Timberland Ed but get big ones they are tight !! I found abrasion resistance was crap but otherwise a good glove. I had a pair on when we were at Ben's job. I don't envy you as they aren't cheap, will get abused and probably lost lol All my guys on scrub clearance had them and loved them.
  10. I never got to do a crane job, something i've allways regretted

  15. Lol roughly Ben thinking of your job it works out at 1.1 tonnes per m3 Was wondering if there were any timber guru's lurking. One of my clients has 360m3 of standing poplar, it's rare we have volumes measured just wondered what it equated to in tonnage.......
  16. Any body got any idea what 1m3 of green poplar would weigh in it's solid form ? Trying to convert 3m into tonnage. Ta.
  17. Alder - burn well !! You must be a magician then Peter !! I'd stick with a 60/40 mix on set areas of Hazel and Sweet Chestnut.
  18. I nearly wet myself when i read that Peter LMAO
  19. What do you want the end product for ? Firewood ? Rustic hurdles etc. ? Charcoal making ? Cover crop ?
  20. I was selling on ebay at 50.00 a bag mixed and 60.00 bag hardwood 2 years ago and they raced out of the yard. I wish i'd had time to develop it properly. Dave I'd try selling yours to a firewood merchant at the moment, they'll rip your arm off and you'll get a large x-mass bonus
  21. Yes I agree but the supermarkets and retail in general have a 100% mark up. What's your profit margin 10-15% If your lucky ? Any was twas just my opinion i'm not starting another handbags at dawn lol
