  1. I'm inclined to agree there, it either slips or binds. Once you've tried AP you'll never go back!
  2. I do splice, not split tails though as I dont use them. Mostly double braid, lanyards and so on. Split tails in 16 strand are one of the easiest splices, as there is no crossover to worry about.
  3. Do you knot or splice Ian? Spliced split tails are easy to make, everyone should know how to do it.
  4. An extract from the foliage is used to produce a drug called tamoxifen, which is used to treat breast cancer. You can sell yew hedge clippings for that very purpose. Werent hatters mad from arsenic poisoning? Perhaps you burnt lots of laurel, I think that contains arsenic.
  5. Do you really want a dozen drunken tree surgeons carousing in your kitchen?
  6. Arbormaster with armor-prus, if you can get hold of some.
  7. Last christmas i knocked the back wall of my house out, and rebuilt it with french doors and a new window, and a new dpc. Not doing that again this year however.
  8. You put as many wraps on as you want, and then depending on how loose you've tied it, some of the wraps will pull down into braids. Same as the Machard Tresse, or french prussik.
  9. The helical is a caving knot. It does turn into something that looks like a vt, but it is different.
  10. So they do https://www.gustharts.com/Products/Arborist%20Equipment/Arborist%20Climbing%20Equipment/A.R.T.%20Advanced%20Ropeclimbing%20Technology/
  11. Try Honey Brothers. I dont know of anyone who keeps the Primus in stock. Treeworker had one at the AA trade fair, and Trees Unlimited had one with the cocoon pulley and a beeline adjuster, but I dont think any of them sold.
  12. If its the ISA comp, I'll be there for sure, if its not, I may still come, if it doesnt clash with anything else.
  13. Get a price for the Primus and a price for the older (better) webbing version and you may change your mind!
  14. Yes, but thats only a tiny top. Ed would have had it another 8 feet lower!
  15. Nice pics, shame you couldnt shake off the camp tourist in the foreground.
  16. thats whats in the pic
  17. My fave is the webbing RG.
  18. Hey yeah! I could (legitimately) use a chainsaw while wearing my scarpas!
  19. hiflex only come in a type c stretch air are good but expensive, sip are worth a look.
  20. A tot of whisky in the milk is better, if an infant sinks 3 or 4 pints they keep waking you up for nappy changes. Get some earplugs mate!
  21. Nice work danny, whereabouts in manchester are you?
  22. I have a 441 and I love it. Runs a 20" bar fine, can run 25" when needed. The lower emissions, low vibration are good, the saw is torquey and cuts very well. The 660 is overkill for an 18" bar IMO. I have used the 440 and the 460, and I would rather have the 441 than either of them.
  23. I fill my jerry can straight from the pump, mix all 20 litres at once, and then top up the combi as required. Cant get much more accurate than that, and my combi is always full.
  24. Haha, yes, I'd like to see the stig beat ed in lap round anglesey, with ed in a megan scenic, and the stig in a transit.... Now theres a top gear race with amusement potential....
  25. Fine as long as you are not welsh, and there are no englishmen with crossbows around!
