  1. Nope, if you follow the quote trail, I was referring to firewoodman's method of quantifying his delivery.
  2. So your suggesting that you measure the volume of dry timber by immersing it in water? Does that not rather defeat the object?
  3. You cant accurately measure the volume of the wood, unless you can stack it with no air gaps, or you have a way of measuring the air gaps? If you weighed it, on the other hand, you would get an accurate measurement.
  4. So you are effectively guying the anchor trees, like a mini skyline. I think it would work, but there is still a lot of unknown quantities, one unforseen force acting on one anchor point will destroy the whole system. If you can get 2 guy lines on each anchor tree that would help.
  5. That kind of highline system creates a lot of lateral forces on the anchor trees, and it is hard to get enough tension to control the sagging. Would a load transfer/drift line using the same two anchor trees work?
  6. Lurrrrrrrrrrrrve my ropeguide. Have used a positioner, but moved on to a cinch. What are you looking at in particular?
  7. I have seen an identical site for a company local to me, but I'm not sure what the point of it is. Bit offputting for potential customers if they find that instead of your site.
  8. In other words, wood burns, water doesnt. It is my understanding that dry wood of any species has a similar heat output when burnt, the only difference being the speed at which it burns.

They cant take your entitlement away. If you drive for a living then you have to complete some CPD in order to continue doing so. Getting employment as a driver will be impossible without it. Whether you feel the need to do it in order to drive your truck to a tree job is up to you, I suggest you read the exemptions and see if any of them apply to your circumstances.

Do you find that the ball tends to slip down when it gets to the retrieval shackle? I found the shackle works like a slack tender and pulls it down the line? Anyway, heres my quick attempt just with the kit in my bag. The Ropeman II doesnt work at all, it just imbeds all the little points into the rope when you try to retrieve it. The double pulley is necessary to keep everything aligned and pull off smoothly.
  14. You can do it a lot quicker if you dont try to thin the tree as you go round!

I only have ropeman 2, seems to be a bit sticky on the release as all the little points dig into the sheath. Might have to invest in some 1s.

I do have a cinch, but its doing sterling duty on my lanyard. Could swap it out for a bit I suppose. I'll try 2 ropemans and see what happens.

Ok, missed a step, having a blond moment. Looks cool, I'll have to give that a try out soon. Do you think a ropeman 2 would work in place of the cinch?

How do you get the spliced eye end back to you in the tree?
  19. Comp results were: 1 st Rhys Brace Stu Witt Peter Haine Geoff Pugsley Martin Rutherford? 6th ?
  20. You could yes, but you might as well stick to one or the other.
  21. Samson have the best splicing instructions. Either this one, or use the locked brummel instructions from the whoopie sling instructions. I would go with the brummel personally, the bury is shorter which is better for eye and eye prussics, although the first splice is stronger.
  22. You use about half a metre.

Whats 201 Andy? Or was that crossed wires?

You can drive a vehicle up to 7.5 tonnes MAM, and tow a trailer provided that the total MAM is no more than 8.25 tonnes. So 7.5 t truck and 750 kg chipper.
