  1. You could yes, but you might as well stick to one or the other.
  2. Samson have the best splicing instructions. Either this one, or use the locked brummel instructions from the whoopie sling instructions. I would go with the brummel personally, the bury is shorter which is better for eye and eye prussics, although the first splice is stronger.
  3. You use about half a metre.

Whats 201 Andy? Or was that crossed wires?

You can drive a vehicle up to 7.5 tonnes MAM, and tow a trailer provided that the total MAM is no more than 8.25 tonnes. So 7.5 t truck and 750 kg chipper.

Hahahahahaahaa. Those boys at the vosa station have been pulling your leg bigtime. The application fee, license fee, and advert will cost you £700-800.

Have you got the old green paper licence or a new photocard? If its a photocard is there an endorsment next to the C1+E? Either an asterisk or a 201?

Thats good but the boys at your local vosa station dont hand out o licences. Dont get me wrong, going bigger on your chip truck is a good idea, but getting and running an o licence will cost you both in time and money. Did they tell you what fees are involved?

Some pre-97 licence holders retained the full C1+E entitlement, depending on when they exchanged their licence, I believe. I didnt believe it until someone with the entitlement showed me their licence.

The 35 hours by 2014 refers to driver CPC, which is nothing to do with vehicle maintainence.

Dont forget you will need an 'O' licence.

As I read it you dont need to do CPC, as driving the vehicle is not your main work. C1+E covers you for 7.5 tonne truck and 3.5 tonne trailer.

There you go then. Whats your budget for a chassis cab?

Indeed, and body types other than tippers tend to have much cleaner tidier chassises underneath. The only problem is that most of them will be too long for your needs, unless your prepared to shorten the chassis.

I wouldnt bother with the hiab on a 7.5 tonner, the weight of the crane will eat into your meagre payload. They do come in different lengths, the tippers are the shortest wheelbase, any other body type is usually on a longer chassis.
  21. Fantastic piece of timber too, who says beech is boring?!
  22. Lots of dead hedging and habitat piles too, but with my big lense on I struggled to get a shot of anything nearer than 20 metres away!
  23. WAH Regs anyone?
  24. Some fine root protection in the parking areas. Laetiporous above parked cars. Elephants ears on sycamore Coros & Monos. Oh yeah, and we did see one or two animals.....
  25. Just goes to show you get what you pay for.
