  1. I store my line in a folding netting laundry bag, one pound and thirty pence. I don't really use throw lines much though.
  2. That reminds me of something.
  3. I am far too educated and full of self righteousness to possible contemplate the topping of trees.
  4. What's that, ball lightning?
  5. I think you are correct. Picture thread, please post your pictures.
  6. So tempting Matt, but I will leave it.
  7. Thursday, chain on the 66 was on it's last legs so I used the 44 instead, tree had metal in the middle of the fell cut and also nails in the crown from a old tree house. I had to wonder why I was sent out to cut a tree that big with a shagged chain on a 66 with no spare. Silly billy. I wonder, would this be classed as a Big tree ticket type of fell?
  8. You coming over here? Cool.
  9. I liked it Reg, the picture and sound quality is excellent, I think that maybe you could combine the POV camera with your chest camera and get a really great bit of footage, I know the resulting editing will be a a headache but it would be worth it. Good to see you working in a tree Reg, it's obvious to me that you know what you are doing.
  10. They look like condoms full of walnuts. To quote Rob Newman.
  11. Hmm, I have to also admit my guilt for wearing shorts while I worked out there.
  12. Frans, have you used the Haultz device? Any views on it?
  13. That is the key, return to the site, look at the results, see your folly.
  14. A line set up independent of the operator, ie, the chainsaw has it's own independent support system, ie, a rope. A common thing in rope access work I believe?
  15. Ok, I used to smoke, heavy, long time, every day smoking. I don't smoke at all now. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8HcXcYlF3_0
  16. Or, you could use a separate tool line for your saw, not that I have done that but it works for some, suspenders on your harness though, is a good thing for hanging a heavy saw, I have heard.
  17. Welcome Oakwilt! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=CuTi9UZtPbw
  18. Same as, Matt.
  19. Haha, reminds me how crap the Eighties were.
  20. Was it this Reg? http://www.haultz.com/features.html
  21. Ahh, I remember that device, can't remember what it is called though.
  22. I prefer sniffing solvents and it's perfectly legal.
  23. Lucky you are. A friend of mine, years ago, made a living cutting trees in the forestry industry, you know the type of thing, work your tits off all day as fast as you can, get paid feck all. Anyway, he was using his Husky to sned up and felt the saw kick back, nothing unusual, so he carried on for a while until he realized his shirt was turning red, he had hit his neck and didn't even realize, he was on his own, in the middle of nowhere, but he managed to get to hospital and get stitched up. He has a nice scar.
  24. Yeah and don't forget, trees really shouldn't be reduced at all, everybody has a different view of tree reduction, here is a Ash tree I did today, the tree was in pretty poor condition, lots of dead branches, a cavity at the base of the tree and a large amount of swelling, also at the base. The Ash on the left, a previous reduction, has to be re-reduced next week, oh, and it's local authority work for all the winges.
