  1. STIHL’s Lithium-Ion PRO Cordless product range will be showcased at Saltex, the UK’s largest event for the grounds care sector, offering contractors the durability and longevity needed to handle the toughest jobs. Taking centre stage will be STIHL’s new FSA 130s, powerful and lightweight brushcutters specifically designed for working on large areas of thick grass at length. Visitors to the stand will be able to see up close the powerful HSA 94 hedge trimmers, ideal for maintenance teams working in urban areas, especially around schools, hospitals and housing estates. The extremely high-performance and robust professional cordless hedge trimmer is available in a heavy-duty cutting or a high speed-trimming version. The BGA 100 will also be on display, an extremely light and quiet hand held blower that comes with three power stages as well as a boost mode, perfect to tackle those difficult tasks, especially in noise sensitive areas. All the products can be used in conjunction with backpack machinery, offering the high capacity contractors require in the grounds care industry. Simon Hewitt, Head of Marketing at STIHL GB, said: “The popularity of cordless tools continues to rise and exhibiting at Saltex provides us with the perfect opportunity to highlight to contractors how our Lithium-Ion PRO range can handle even the toughest of jobs. We are very much looking forward to seeing new and existing customers at the show.” For more information please visit www.stihl.co.uk. View full record

  3. I was in Italy a few weeks back and saw field after field of Poplars at various stages of growth beside the main road. There were literally hectares of them. Really would have liked to know what they were all being grown for.
  4. You did well then, that was 3 years before I even created it
  5. Yep as Daniel says. i disabled the tally thing. Not entirely sure I like the 'days won' thing either. Perhaps it wouldn't be better renamed
  6. http://kingwell-holdings.co.uk/ Justin has a machine for most things
  7. Thanks for your post Neil I'm not sure the symptoms you describe are any worse now than they have been though to be honest. Thats the nature of forums unfortunately. It is frustrating I agree. Particularly as an admin also. As soon as things get deleted you get accused of censorship blah blah, so we try to let things run where possible. With the addition of facebook log-in on the new site I have noticed an increase in the amount of new registrants who are choosing to use their real name rather than a screen name to hide behind. I am hoping over time this might help change things slightly.....and yes it is very nearly always those with pseudonyms who cause the most trouble.
  8. Yes it was all regrowth. Apparently April is the time to do it to get the larger leaves. Didn't realise the stems are also hollow like bamboo apparently.
  9. Spotted this from afar this morning. Not seen one with leaves quite this big before
  10. The temperatures are dropping, leaves are falling, and the days are getting shorter. It can only mean one thing - Autumn is nearly upon us. Working in warmer temperatures will soon be a thing of the past, and you will be battling the outdoor elements during your working day. With a global reputation for producing high specification safety footwear, HAIX’s Protector Forest boot offers the protection you need in the colder seasons. Waterproof GORE-TEX® material prevents moisture penetration, ensuring your feet will remain dry in all weathers. Exceptional grip, an anti slip sole with bold tread, and an extra wide and high steel toe cap protection ensures your protection from falling objects and equipment. The boot also has Class 2 Cut Protection, tested to withstand cuts from a chainsaw speed of 24 m/s. The two-zone lacing system ensures the boot can be adjusted to your foot and calf area, providing you with greater fit and comfort at work. The Protector Forest is lightweight, reducing pressure on the joints and spine. Don’t pay the price in the colder months – invest in the right boot now. 12. I've been winging it for years...thankfully I have had the odd bit of sound advise along the way
  13. Bit out of context anyway I feel. If someone had asked how to climb their own trees to carry out work I would have suggested getting a pro in, or getting training. That's a far cry from someone who is already climbing anyway and looking to reduce a bit of friction
  14. Awesome! One of the best saws ever made, along with the 460 and 461. They get better and better. Enjoy!
  15. I've come across plenty of 'professionals with tickets' who I wouldn't want to give advice to! its not rocket science!

    Boots

Mine felt fine, I had a 9. My true size is probably nearer 8.5 though to be fair
  17. For me it's essential, not so much for rope abrasion, they can be replaced. Your joints can't though. Reducing the friction will be kinder on your body
