  1. Let us know how you get on. i took my fly into the local chandlers years ago, needed the whipping redoing. I explained to the guy in the shop it was a unique splice that his guys probably wouldn’t be familiar with, which he scoffed at boasting his guys know every splice. 5 minutes later there were 3 of them gathered round poking and prodding at this new splice they’d never come across before ?
  2. So nothing to do with the technology they are driving being more resource hungry then no?
  3. The cynical side of me might suspect the REAL experts are doing what they're good at and spending their time looking for those new breakthroughs, not making youtube videos
  4. I believe so! Yes, welcome Carmen and thanks for joining us
  5. That came out nice, got plans for it?
  6. I’m sure I was once told vallorbe make Oregon’s files
  7. Yes it can but it’s a different type of splice. Instructions should be on teufekbeeger site or new englands alternativeky they recently started using a slaice instead
  8. Don’t think you’ll have much luck there, he’s not logged in for quite some time
  9. Likewise, and we only had 3 saws on site so it would have been a disaster
  10. Worst thing I ever chipped was Russian ivy, the pit of us has to down tools, eyes were streaming, headaches, dizzyness
  11. don't work hard on speed, thats just an accident waiting to happen. That will come naturally with time.
  12. Welcome to the forum, and great pictures. I take it you are from the states? 8 months isn't a long time to be climbing, and controversial as it may sound in my opinion learner climbers are often worth less than a groundsman. If they are not up to production speed they can effectively control the speed of the entire job. HOWEVER..... The fact you are already getting involved with crane work so soon I can only assume you've taken to it like a duck to water, and if what you are saying is true about you doing the work because others are shying away from it then you certainly should be on more than the average groundsman. There are a whole lot of people in this game looking to make money out of other people and often short change those who deserve it the most, be wary of people like this. The more you let them take advantage, the more they will. Companies are ALWAYS keen to find young, fit and keen climbers. Perhaps time to start casting the net out and see whats available?
  13. This is the nearest i've got if its any use
  14. Never understood how tractor drivers earn a living on their rates
  15. Just saw this on facebook. A reminder how important it is to maintain safe work positioning when using a chainsaw, particularly when one handed. Although if you slip when you're cutting 1 or 2 hands won't necessarily make a difference. I don't know the details about this particular incident though. Quite a gruesome picture so don't scroll down if you're squeamish.
  16. I can confirm Giorgio is still alive following this video clip
  17. First thing that caught my eye when I came round yours
