  1. i think it was just the wording........what a consultant is probably saying is the saphrophytic fungus is not going to kill a tree so is less important, from a climbing point of view however it is very significant
  2. Ive suggested it on occassion but not had any takers.....i think its something thats hard to sell, much like root feeding etc....if people cant see it they tend not to be bothered about spending money on it. just my view. not sure if id want to get involved with that side of things though personally.
  3. i know a climber who advocates hanging the chainsaw from the secondary low d's. i tried it but personally didnt get on with it, althout it is more comfortable, you dont feel the weight of the saw at all as its redorected straight through your bridge through to your climbinging system perhaps give that a try. other than that i dont understand why you cant move the saw absolutely anywhere. i saw a pic rup posted at the buzz where hes clipping the saw onto a shackle attached to the leather portion. heres rupes pic http://www.treebuzz.com/forum/images/upload/92491-x.jpg
  4. i dont like it but at the same time understand the reasoning behind it and am sticking with it. i do like the way i can run it behind me and use it on the left side aswell without running out of lanyard, but dislike the factt hat i need a longer lanyard in the first place to use it.
  5. thankyou....im working on the look at the moment, the "fall days" header will be replaced by the arbtalk logo very soon hopefully!
  6. i decided to merge gear reviews and climbers talk today...everything that was in gear reviews for the most part will be found in climbers talk
  7. yep....course it doesnt matter in competition AR........id probably go with something different for a work scenario where it needed to be retrieved from the ground
  8. i had a sugoi but found it too aggressive for fine pruning
  9. whats your saw of choice and why? I use the zubat 330mm. ive tried ARS and samurai. the samurai blade bends too easy. the ARS is a half decent saw for the price but overall the silkys cant be beat IMO. i prefer a curved blade, makes cutting easier and the curve also helps for hooking branches.
  10. welcome tony. is the butterfly knot tied on a single leg(secured obviously)? and do you footlock up with everything set up ready to go?
  11. heres another, wasnt so sure about this one personally
  12. has anyone had a chance to use yet? http://www.mydeo.com/videorequest.asp?XID=11055&CID=90341
  13. How many of you make it a point to do recreational climbing. in the 10 years ive been climbing ive only rec climbed a couple times.....comps not included. its a lot of fun being able to do big swings and quick branch runs without any extra gearing weighing you down.
  14. i got mine on ebay for £80 do your homework if you buy one on ebay though....theres people advertising 250mh models for £10, thats bollocks. the price SHOULD give it away if they are exagerating the strength.
  15. who is using these? I bought mine a few weeks back after seeing some in action. its already proved invaluble for pointing things out to customers that you'd otherwise spend forever trying to explain. and also they're dammed good fun! few pics, one reflected off my truck, one just shooting into the sky, and the one last one is reflecting off a tree approx 400 meters away. this ones a 100mh model
  16. cracking day in contrast to the rest of the week. got a few log orders out today and rounding up the day cutting the grass
  17. i try and avoid EVERYTHING during bank holidays
  18. the one of treesurfers i think we all liked best wont work for the headed as the trees too tall.....it will push the forums too far down the page by the time the banners and everything else are in place.....that will def go on the t-shirts though
  19. not sure. wanted to keep it simple. i personally like it
  20. haha...if i'd only known about treesurfers talents before I commissioned this other guy!!
  21. thats what the designer put on there, its just a copyright watermark
  22. i was reading an interesting thread at www.treebuzz.com that discussed using srt to gain a higher anchor point where the anchor point was questionable. run the srt line through a sling at a safe point on the trunk so if the highest anchor point fails you'll only fall to the next safety, much like lead climbing with quickdraws i suppose, or at least this is how i understood it. meanwhile you're working Ddrt off of the srt.
