  4. when i got to thinking about it, this load of wood is from 2 seasons ago. im particularly interested to know if this beetle, if ID'd correct would have been in the wood originally or layed eggs since. I havent had anyone else mention it but am still concerned it may have been a problem in my woodpile. I did find a grub which made me wonder if they attacked the wood more recently. if anyone has any further info or details about the beetle it would be appreciated!
  5. I took a load of logs to a regular customer today, when I arrived he proceeded to explain to me how they had beetles coming out of the previous logs i'd taken. This is what they ID'd it as
  6. as i understand it the whole thing about harvesting cricket bat willows is there should be no hinge at all. i said earlier in the thread, take your depth gauges right down so your saw cuts quick then go clean through. im sure someone will chime in who knows the right way before long!
  7. i dont think anyone really cares to be honest. Matts an experienced climber and if he decided it wasnt safe then its not really relevant if someone else WOULD have done it is it?
  8. not quite sure what this tree is, anyone help?

  11. its even worse on your own job. if i turn up contract cimbing im far more likely to go ahead with the climbing than if it was my own job.
  12. Thanks for all the entries. This thread will be locked for now and the results posted as soon as they are in. good luck everyone
  13. my first attempt at coronet cuts today....turned on a lit too uniform for my liking but didnt have time to waste going over it again.....i'll get it right next time!
  14. job done....and not a bad one for a lowly tree climber IMO
  15. ive always said that when people pick up a saw and claim they can tune it by ear....i wont let anyone anywhere near my say without a tacho
  16. so has anyone here ever actually got themselves in trouble over this subject?
