  1. good point about the shackle. i used to use a mallion attachment cranked up tight with a spanner. not a good idea to have any device that can be opened out of sight at the top of a tree.
  2. i have a pair i alternate between....cant really fault them
  3. loose...if you want to play it safe you're best telling the customer 3 cubic meters including air space
  4. and by the time you done all that, youve got something that has cost nearly as much as a rope guide but still doesnt perform as well
  5. thats the same setup i used to use before splashing out on the rope guide.....if it was a tree that i knew id be going back up to my TIP i'd set it up as vduben did
  6. tanaka are easy enough to get parts for. can't vouch for the chainsaw tockmal, but ive had a hedge trimmer for the past couple years and its been one of the best ive owned, cant fault it mechanically

  22. I had a discussion with a colleague today regarding loler. He recently put a member of his staff through a climbing assessment. For the assessment he purchased a whole new rigging kit, rope, capstan, krabs, slings, the works, all brand new. He was then told all the gear had to be loler inspected. Now i was under the impression Gear had to be checked after 6 months, and that new gear didnt require loler testing. Can someone confirm this please
