Hello

 

 

Was running the stump grinder the other day, and I had a feeling is this machine really revving properly?

 

So I put my hand in and pull things. And it rev up like a horse on speed.

 

So now I'm thinking should I change things so it Rev higher or perhaps it's supposed to be lower Rev? Any way grinding performance doubled with high Rev

My old Rayco command engine did that.

 

The lever that controls the throttle closest to the carb has a stop, so it's unlikely you're over revving.

 

It's likely that some springs have worn and your revs have backed off imperceptibly.

 

I could well be wrong and you'll blow it up though:)

Be careful you can easily over rev the engine and cause a lot of damage. The engine is governed but you were probably overriding it. Get a tachometer and get some readings, depending on the engine you should probably be looking at 3750 rpm on full throttle no load.

I'm going to take a punt on max rpm being 3600. Get yeeself a spark / ht tacho.

Maximum refs on my Vermerr sc30tx is 3700, that's the Koehler 27hp. I spoke to the engineer at Vermeer UK and he says to run the engine between 3200 and 3600 without load. I stick to about 3400, anything over drinks fuel like a sailor on shore leave.

Ok engine info says 3600 Rev. Gonna get a tool so I can check what I'm running on

Machine is 2 years old now. Don't think I'm covered with warranty anymore... I will Rev this up to the 3600 if it goes lower
