I'm going to sort out the timer on my central heating, then pray for a hard winter, rather than another of the dreary damp ones we have endured for the past few years.

Did Asian Hornets bugger up the timer ? :001_smile:

Been several nest here in North Norfolk, we had a wasp nest above the office and the chap that came to deal said his company has had a "lot" of the Asian nests to deal with. Hopefully the queens will now have mated and left and the colonies will die off. Another migrant species to deal with........

Are you sure they're Asian hornets and not the native ones? As far as I'm aware there's only been two sightings of Vespa velutina in the UK so far.

Reading the updates, apart from huge increases in the Channel Isles this year, they've been positively identified in Hull and Hampshire (this week).

There's a good guide on ident from Non Native Species Secretariat

Published yesterday. Can't get much more up to date than late. The Bury sighting isn't that far from me.

From another forum - "Jersey have gone past 50 nests found and destroyed this year alone (up from 7 or 8 I think last year)."

Maybe the weather has been a significant factor?

I was spiking up a Douglas last week and happened to look up and see an Asian hornets nest above me (confirmed by the pest control man who came to destroy the nest)

Lucky really because they’re aggressive bastards, very nearly killed tree guy a little while back.

Blimey Mick !
