I am on the lookout for some quality hardwoods for processing. The spec is quite restrictive but we can pay more than your standard "firewood" price.

Looking to buy it by the lorry load. If it's the right stuff I would be interested in 100+ tonnes of Oak specifically.

If you have anything that fits the spec please PM me and we can discuss pricing.

Spec:

  • Length 3m +/- 20cm (other lengths to order only)
  • Minimum top diameter 15cm
  • Maximum butt diameter 32cm

All timber should be as knot free as possible, 1st length type material (no top wood), it should be straight within reason with no butt flares, rot, dirt or metal contamination.

Species:

Oak

Beech

Silver Birch

Alder

Sweet Chestnut

Cherry

Poplar

All Fruit woods (Phone for spec)

What do you want to process them into that requires such a tight spec?

Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app

We process about half a dozen different products out of most species, so it really helps to have wood that is versatile hence the tight spec.

I think for such a tight spec and regarding quality, cleanliness etc you will not only be paying well above firewood specs but also well above normal timber prices. There are going to be a limited number of suppliers for this product and even fewer that want the hassle of supplying you. You may have to drop your requirements regarding cleanliness etc, after all trees growing in woodlands etc grow in soil and its impossible to get not to get any on a tree whether its felled or windblown. If you are further processing the timber its all removed anyway during machining etc.
