No , it's been dry and hot the whole time .

i dealt with a oak limb that had fall about a month ago with no sign of rot in it and had no previous damage.(it's in a field and and have worked on tree before ) sorry no pictures

 

I made the assumption that because the limb had more water in it than in winter and the I thought in my area (manchester ) that there had been quite a number of very strong windy days (which i thought was unusual )through the summer that this was the reason for the failure or I could be talking out of my bum hole again !

also had in same field large willow limb fail but that is hung up so don't know the state of that (customer wanted it leaving for now as it's of no danger to anyone currently just so you know why that is the case)

Had loads down in the South East. Some very big failures, too - including a massive limb of a mature oak.

A lot of oaks rip out this summer, this one had a bad union hidden in the ivy ,

Summer Branch Drop.

You won't find it on small young trees and it almost always happens during late afternoon when the weather is hot with possibly a light breeze.

The client thinks you're making a weird joke when you explain why it happens!
