for a quick retrieve of the rigging line I get the groundy to clip the crab around my climbing line and hold my line taught. They pull the rigging line and up it comes to you.

is that what you mean?

Ha ha, stupidly brilliant!

Indeed!

Reckon I owe you a beer for that one Rich!

That never worked great for me Rich the angle has to be right or it just pulls towards the block rather than sliding up towards the climber, perfect if the block is above you though.

I know what you mean about the angle.

90% of the time it works fine. I find it is best to try and trick it. Wait till everything has settled, usually a couple of metres from you. Couple of quick pulls and grab it before it floats away.

And if not, just tie it to your line and pull it up. Always quicker to try to zip it up first though if the groundy gets used to it. 👍🙂

Like your suggestion rich used that technique a few times and it works great if you remember to redirect your climbing line appropriately if not it gets embarrassing for the bloke who suggested it (me usually). Alternatively a third rope with a crab or pulley on the end attached to the main rigging line anchored over a crotch dropping the tail within gasp of the climber works and also gives the advantage of another rigging linen if needed.

They're expensive for a single use item. A branch is much cheaper

My thoughts entirely, also available in a range of lengths
