It can be used on rather swampy ground, but when it sinks to deep and to easy i use a limb with approx 7cm diameter and a length of 25cm , to long and it will snap right of but with the right length it works good as a sinking brake

mmm im not convinced! when felling a tree im consiouse not to stand directly behind the direction of fall but out at 45 degrees to one side so in the event of it going backwards your in the least likey place to get pinned! i was tought this method originaly when first felling trees and have kinda stuck to it. also it looks heavy and clumbersombe for arborists, maybe more suitable for forestry work. nothings safer than the old rope about2/3 the way up

A rope is hard to beat and is what i use when i want extra saftey, but you can never have to many tools i think

They are very good imo, i use to use on when i lived in sweden there was a few mods made on the one i had like a detachable plate on bottom so you can add a bigger one which didn't sink as much and a bit of re enforcement on welds and stuff. A great bit of kit to add to your kit:001_smile:

i use them here in sweden too, great for knocking stems over, back leaners ect

They are great for supporting Unimog Cabs.

Not used it for anything else.

they aint so much fun to carry through the forest all day though, but are useful in the right situation, quicker than a winch, but its easy to get greedy with em and if the angle they are set at is too steep they can lift the tree and pop the hinge, i do like my wedges though right now the wood is frozen so they tend to get spat out so the stalp is good to use, can also use it to help push out hung up trees.
