Electric bench sharpeners

Well I have now installed and used my new Sealey electric sharpener.....

It doesn't seem to be as good as the Lidl one! The chain clamp is not as good and there is no work light (Lidl one has a light), early attempt at sharpening a 150 chain has resulted in a new chain being required .......

The bicycle brake style chain clamp setup is good but the actual clamp doesn't hold the chain securely so it tends to rise up.....

Are they idiot proof?

I only have an ms170 but now have 4 chains that are really very blunt as my hand sharpening is rubbish👎

And the local place charges £15 to sharpen a £17.50 chain so I just buy new.

Would be good if I could sharpen these chains myself as they have had hardly any use.

We've got one of these and they are great for chains that have struck metal etc.... For the best results I brush water and oil on the grinding wheel while sharpening and it stops the chain hardening with the heat.

Yes that's right. Set the guides to the desired depth and angle of cut and pull the chain through from left to right. It's really easy once you suss it.

Are they out already thought it was 1st of September

Yea I got most of it, but the little do-dad with a red tip, seems to want to tighten the rails and grip the chain, mine doesnt seem to pull quite enough.

1st of september is UK, there are a few minor perks of living in france :001_smile:
