The sticking point is when particular human beings assert that they are 'better' when the vast majority of the circumstances that led to their position were completely out of their control.

Living in peace is impossible whilst people cling to their luck through of a misguided sense of entitlement.

That theory falls apart where many generations of a particular demographic, long after their ancestors arrived either voluntarily or otherwise into a new land, still cling to the notion of societal disadvantage as a state imposed situation rather than a social / cultural / personal one.  We've had decades of imposed so called equality, yet perennial problems still persist within certain demographics.

Sheesh, at this very moment there are slave markets in Africa where you can pick up a slave for a couple of hundred dollars. However the politically correct members here get worked up about someone using the word "baboon". It's no wonder political correctness is turning into a bit of a joke.

Anyway, what should we think about these slave markets? I was thinking they were morally wrong, but then I thought that's it's part of African culture to sell other Africans as slaves and it would be deeply racist to condemn these slave markets. After all it's well known that "all cultures are equal".

Our entire asylum process is based on the idea that British culture is better than others.... When we give asylum to someone from Somalia/ Afghanistan etc there is a clear value judgement that we are doing do because British culture is better than Somalia/ Afghan culture...

If Western culture isn't superior to African/ME culture why are so many people risking their life to get to Europe? Why did Zimbabwe fall apart when the White Man left?

It's a lovely idea that all people are equal, but it's clearly not true..... I think deep down we all know it...

If you boil it right down we are in fact all equal. Inequality arises from differences in opportunity and circumstance. We don't pick our parents, our genes, what country we were born in, what religion our parents choose to pass on etc etc. Without wanting to get down a metaphysical rabbit hole, we don't even pick the thoughts that enter our conciousness.

I agree that we are not equal in outcome, but in my view it is wrong to feel entitled to a better culture at the expense of others.

We absolutely need to protect ourselves from bad and destructive ideologies. Border control is obviously a part of this, but we need to be very careful with blanket labelling of peoples as intrinsically better or worse.

Hey-up Mull!  Haven't heard from you for AGES, I was wondering if your tinterweb connection had gone down.  All well in the Islands I hope?

"...White supremacy documentary..."  What, you mean that popular, mainstream TV comedy series that ran for +/- 4 years, over 7 series and > 50 episodes??  Hell's teeth!  I wonder what the audience count was?  That'd be a frightening thought if watching that equates to KKK membership!

I'd suggest it's an interesting barometer of how 'accepted' attitudes have changed over the past 40-50 years.

Mid 70's it was socially acceptable, nay enthusiastically consumed, centrally disseminated, popular propaganda piped direct into the heart of middle England for Saturday evening family TV consumption.

Roll the clock forward 40-50 years and we have Dianne Abbot and the Loony Left Momentmob baying for corporate crucifixion over a f*cking fancy dress costume!

Consider the mind boggling change of what might be considered 'acceptable', over such a mind bogglingly insignificant (in evolutionary terms) time frame and then ask, has anything really changed as a consequence of having this PC BS imposed upon us?

Just my view, but can't see it really.

On a separate note, I was wondering where you'd got to of late (missed ya!)  I thought the Scottish income tax comment might have tickled your fancy??

PS - can't believe they've actually rolled out the incompetent, sanctimonious baboon on the AM show....  Can't be any chance of Labour thinking there'll be an election anytime soon, they'll have to put her back into a soundproof bunker at least 1 year before any election campaign starts.

"...This wasn’t some guerrilla marketing stunt..."

See, I just find that funny....

"...Ms Abbott was the victim of almost half the abuse directed at women MPs on Twitter during the 2017 election campaign..."

Not to be condoned obviously, but maybe if she wasn't such a complete baffoon people wouldn't feel compelled to tell her?  It's the same with our local MP (Tory) - quite unpopular for widely recognised reasons and also the target of considerable online and actual abuse via defacing of office and billboard posters during election campaig.  It's not because she's 'white' though, it's because she is unpopular.

Anyone remember Spitting Image?  If you were easily caricatured, you WERE!

So where are we now - you can only caricature an idiot if you are the same race as them?

We're clearly not equal though... Anyone being honest would admit that "white" countries are generally better places to live. That's not being racist, it's just being honest.

"Expense of others"? What "others" are we abusing? We've not had a commonwealth for a long long time...

How do you control borders without "blanket labelling"? Recent events has shown that some migrant groups cause a lot of trouble. The plusses of some migrant groups are small and the minuses are huge.. Trump has the right idea...

Agreed.

This is a problem on both sides of the coin. In our current state of civilisation (Split into different countries and cultures), if one wants to move from one culture to another, or finds themselves born into a minority culture there has to be a concerted commitment to causing no harm and an openess to considering the different ways to live.

You are the only educated person that I have ever encountered who seems to consider baboon and buffoon to be similes. Then you expect us to swallow that your use of the word baboon to describe an MP who by sheer coincidence just happens to be black is sheer coincidence. As I said, pull the other one.

I've always thought of you as an intelligent man. Pull the other one.

I've got a question for you. Do you think Dianne Abbot would have got to where she is if she was white? She hardly comes across as being very smart...

Imho, if she was white she would have been lucky to become a councillor.

So maybe the real story is someone got promoted solely due to their skin colour and having slept with Jeremy Corbyn?

You and Trump certainly appear to think the same way (although it seems increasingly likely that Trump doesn't really think much beyond himself at all)

It seems ludicrous to me that you should limit a person's opportunity to move around the Earth based purely on their nationality. How can this position be defended when you think about it in any depth?
