I don't get when the trains are supposed to be privatised what's it got to do with the government what the drivers get paid?

The government are in the process of dishing out bumper pay rises to certain sectors, primarily those with a powerful union representation. The same unions that finance Labour. I get the impression we might be at the start of a rapidly hastening wage race.

Who would you prefer to be doing Starmer's  job right now, and why? And how would you deal with all the refugees on boats coming over?

He is not doing his Job. He is putting the population of the UK in peril, ultimately everyone including those refugees with legitimate claims.

How would you deal with people constantly entering your house uninvited and illegally  if the authorities were disinterested and you couldn't move?

I'd take matters into my own hands. But I can't see myself in a situation I couldn't move from.

I fear the UK has only seen the start of exactly that.

Genuine refugees are not people that need to pay thousands to criminals to get here under cover or darkness and sneak their way in. There is a legitimate process for genuine migrants......those that spend £12-£15k on a family of four to try and make their way in through the back door are by definition not genuine- if they were, they wouldn't need to. Spending that eye watering amount (which in their country of origin would be a kings ransom) tells me financially it's worth them to come here in the long run.

Why should you or would you consider moving. This is after all your country Mark, you have I presume paid into the system since you started work as did your parents and grandparents etc. It’s exactly as Mike says, work hard save pay your bills, stock up your pantry, save for your retirement and then just let  anyone in to help themselves who has contributed zero and paid a fortune to cross from another safe country or 4, the logic and sustainability of it is utterly insane.

Slightly off topic Mark but I thought you’d be interested.

locked up for rioting, locked up for typing online hate, locked up for thinking the wrong thoughts,

there is seemingly nothing to be done, except what Elon Musk predicts - a civil war, now that sounds nasty and could result in serious injury.

Maybe enough subtle online typing can create a massive change in public opinion, so that the government has to get tough.

A charity says it wants to help families struggling with toilet training ahead of September.

We are doomed , wtf is going on in this country...25% of all parents are now too lazy to do the basics of parenting...I would have put a 1 in 10 figure on it but this is shocking.

I think it's the realisation of the theory that modern western society creates an environment where each generation becomes more stupid and incapable.

People that are capable and able to afford to raise children well tend to make conscious decisions to wait until they're settled in a stable relationship, with a stable home and career before having one or two children which they then parent well. The other end of the spectrum is the feckless people that have little ability to look after themselves let alone children, who mindlessly birth one after another safe in the knowledge that society is there to absolve them of their decisions.

I've spoken to people who don't seem to live in reality at all. Brand new house, air source heating, two cars and a motorbike with 5 young kids. I said I didn't know how he could afford it having one minimum wage income for seven people and the answer was kids are really cheap to have!

Flip side of course, the kids great granny mostly looks after half of them because the twenty something girlfriend that's never had a job can't cope.

Quelle surprise.
