🤷‍♂️ Rubbish, massive increases in population and the sheer cost of rural living, land and limited hunting opportunities would make your statement a pure fantasy.

Again pure fantasy.
I do what I can for me my friends and family. The tens of millions of urban dwellers need feeding. How many of those want to get blood or dirt on their hands. Or even have the opportunities to do so.

Couple of points you missed again here.

I wasn't suggesting that everyone should be hunters, yours is not the only way.

Meat is not the only food source. This discussion started with neonicotinoids and Sugar Beat, if you recall.

Irrespective of who does the actual shooting, commercial or private, there ought to be a nationwide program of deer culling to get all that wild meat off the land, where it's wreaking havoc, and onto the supermarket shelves. Much better for all and everything concerned if that was the meat component of our food landscape, rather than intensively reared livestock. What do you think?

Oh I got your points 42 as always delivered with that smart arse superior than thou style you exhibit.
Once again fantasy land ideology.
Approx 350000 deer are taken every year in the UK covering all species. A quick google would suggest 1.2 billion animals of all species are slaughtered every year in the UK. To suggest that the deer figure could as you say form the “ meat component “ is laughable.
I’d suggest that wreaking havoc is a bit ott. The less that government has to do with deer management the better in my experience.
People want cheap food 🤷‍♂️and people want meat as long as those two facts stand then intensive methods will be in place.
One thing you could do that would absolutely help animal welfare and food safety standards is to make some noise about the whole “ Halal “ slaughtering methods that are widespread within certain communities 🤷‍♂️

I think that is a great idea. Sadly there are three things that prevent this gaining traction.

1) The general public and their love of Bambi.

2) The government dosnt support the private ownership of firearms.

3) Stalkers themselves who won't support new people incase they themselves loose stalking grounds.

Possibly a fouth with Private land owners not allowing the public or persons unknown onto their land. You have to hit everywhere or sanctuaries are created that hold animals.  I used to cull in forests back home and the best approach is constant even pressure.  Although the general public could shoot the forests, then generally only went after the easy animals, but at least it kept them off the roads.
