My mate recently bought a Hurliman tractor and we are puzzled by this item on the back of it. It has a rubber grip on the top which comes off and a square rod pulls out. But is doesn't appear to be connected to anything at the bottom or to do anything. Any ideas????

We have a similar thing on the back of our New Holland. On ours that part you've pulled out then folds over 90 degrees to become a lever that you rotate up or down to control the link arms when fitting implements on the back.
