I suffer terribly with the bloody things and swell up hugely ( they never bite you anywhere you want to swell up!). An antihistamine containing cetridazine is brilliant, you take one a day and it doesn't make you drowsy. Doesn't stop them biting but at least stops the horrible swelling and itching. They are available in Aldi and Savers, much cheaper than the chemist.

Ice on the bites, anthisan then hydrocortisone cream and anti histimine!

Oh and when u get bit bad u get really paranoid about any sudden movement and develop reflexes like a ninja! I caught and dismembered 10 in one day a few years back! Also Using a rake in long grass antagonises the *****!

Cheers for the feedback guys, wish I'd tried something today cos it made a hard day even harder, ended up covering all skin apart from my face, sweated my tits off! even had to shut the vents on my lid cos they were getting in. Sat on my visor eyeballing me! Swarms of them up until 5pm. What really pee'd me off - had the Mrs in for an extra pair of hands dragging brash & she doesn't react to them! Anyone else immune?
