There is a Hakki Pilke 37 on ebay right now for 6600, its worth a thought i suppose, what is the easy specification?

I still like the idea of the Dalen just on the size etc, has anyone used the Japa style processors from fuelwood?

The guy selling it is called johnathon or similar. I think mr Latham is in sussex it could be him selling it. Johnathan latham quoted me £7995 + vat for a new one at the Weald wood show which would come with a warrantee. The one on ebay includes vat so currently stands at £5700. With only 10 hrs under its belt its probably a good buy.

I thought about buying a bigger machine but a bigger bar will turn more of your wood to chips or waste and bigger wood will be wetter. A 6 way splitter is ok for pine but Beech ? I am not so sure. Can you process on to hard ground in the summer then scoop up with a machine. I cant so tend to billet then process in winter.

We've noticed a lot more people going down the billeting route over the last year - partly on cost and partly on the size of the timber people are ending up with.

For the cost of one of the basic sort of processors you can have a sawbench with an elevator and a decent sized splitter and deal with stuff much bigger than you could with a processor.

i have a 4way on my hakkipilke with 7 ton splitter....its only any good on straight stuff, i certainly wouldnt put a 6 way on it. i always have mine set on the 2 way

Ditto the above, unless timber is reasonably straight the ram speed often causes the log to hit knife at an angle leading to more frequent jamming. This is much less likely with the knife on 2-way.
