I can work in sillymeters Bolam :001_smile: There is a sheet of inch thick road plate here that I have hacked into, if you would like a lump of that I will cut a bit off for you. Send a large stamped addressed envelope and I will post it off to you .

Bob

You're just being silly...

Don't need an envelope, just stick a label on it

My mate parked his Hilux on the crappy lightweight ali cover in one on my parking bays and dropped a wheel into it.

It's a poor design over the shaft for a pumping station.

The equally weak flanged recess for it is fubar'd as well.

My plan is to get an oversize steel plate made up with flanges that just fit in the recess to stop it sliding about.

The recess is 600x600 (Stubby, Al, Bob, Johny that's 2 ft x 2ft).

How much overlap should I go for, and what thickness steel?

Not that I would, but I'd need to park the rear wheels of a loaded 3.5 tonner on there in case I've had a few.

Thanks in advance.

😛😛

I've dropped my 7.5t front wheel through many a manhole cover in driveways, usually the old cast iron ones and covered in gravel so you don't know they are there.😡

I always keep a bit of 3/4" ply in the truck and cut it to the right size. Cover the hole, sweep the gravel back over the top and no one's any the wiser.👍

I dropped the back wheel of your old landy down a manhole last week hadn't even said hello to the customer and she came out after hearing the cast iron smashing 😆 couldn't really hide that one 😁

Thanks mate, much cheaper than I thought.

I might just go for a cover and frame and do it in one hit, like Dan first suggested.

But where's the fun in that?

if your up near Dartford try Durey castings behind the shell garage on Hawley road

they supply Travis perkins and other builders merchants

we got some 12.5 tonners for half what TP wanted for them
